On his senate website, it says that he was approached by then Packer Head Coach Lisle Blackbourn.  Blackbourn told Kennedy he had caught the attention of several talent scouts and that they gave Kennedy a hearty recommendation for whoever wanted to pick him up.

<p>Kennedy played Senior Right End while at Harvard, and was flattered that Green Bay was interested in him.  However, he told Coach Blackbourn that &#8220;he had plans to attend law school and to &#8216;go into another contact sport, politics&#8217;.&#8221;  (Very well said, of course!)</p>
<p>The Packers could have used Kennedy.  They went <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1955_Green_Bay_Packers_season">4-8 in their 1956 season</a> and were outscored by their opponents 264-342</p>
