NASCAR’s race for the Chase pulls onto the unfriendly, cramped and just difficult racing venue of Martinsville Speedway for Friday’s Tums Fast Relief 500, a .526-mile track that probably isn’t the favourite of many of the NASCAR competitors. Kurt Busch admitted recently that he has a love hate relationship going with this track and that he has had a less than successful time at Martinsville in the 18 races he has competed in during his ten year NASCAR career and it’s my guess there are probably a few other racers that don’t exactly feel confident coming to Martinsville.
Martinsville is one …read more

Sports are adrenalin fed activities that walk along a narrow edge between success and failure, no matter the sport you compete in. Success always breeds confidence and confidence creates an athlete who holds nothing back and puts it all on the line every time. There’s something in the statement that race car drivers are athletes who constantly walk the line between confident success and sheepish failure. The feeling of confidence a NASCAR competitor feels after having been through the fire of the season and come out the other side on fire, must be exhilarating and something that fills you with …read more

The next round of NASCAR’s playoff round, the Chase is about to put the metal to the pedal in a few days. Tire testing and qualifying for the next round of the Chase, Sunday’s AAA 400, were held on the pavement of Dover International Speedway today and there weren’t really any surprises to be had.
Jimmie Johnson had an excellent day as he was out on the track running and testing the rubber that is available from Goodyear. This was something that I was expecting to see Johnson achieve and he didn’t disappoint in Friday’s qualifying session at the Monster Mile. …read more

Dale Earnhardt Jr. and David Reutimann are two competitors in a sport that is fast and loose at times because of the speeds and timing requirements of their sport. It takes talent, timing and intangibles of an unknown type to be a NASCAR champion. Neither of these gentlemen has exactly been the top racer during the 2009 NASCAR season, both having their ups and downs due to race cars that are still in need of tweaking, and at times bad or aggressive decisions.
Sunday on the New Hampshire International Speedway they were both racing for nothing but a win, pride and …read more
