Plants vs. Zombies: The Music Video

Here at Play Girlz, we appreciate the weird and unusual. More than that, we appreciate zombies. Plants are pretty cool, too. So hearing that PopCap is developing a game called Plants vs. Zombies has been quite glee-inducing. But even more awesome – and bizarre – than a game about plants at war with zombies is a music video about plants at war with zombies. You absolutely cannot go wrong with a video featuring singing flowers and zombies.

Pink Ribbon DS Lite

When training your brain, or battling Pokémon, you can now help those facing an infinitely more difficult real-life battle against breast cancer.
A new edition of the Nintendo DS Lite has popped up on Amazon.com showcasing a polar white console sporting a pink ribbon to show solidarity and support in the fight against breast cancer. In a burst of charitable goodness, Nintendo has pledged to donate $5 from the purchase of every one of these special edition consoles to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, with a minimum donation of $100,000.
If you don’t already have a DS, what better time to …read more

vThe latest video from the Little Big Planet crew, done in a Croc Hunter style species profile, gives a pretty good look at what gamers might encounter in the highly anticipated game. Looks phenomenal.

WolfenFlickr: Your Photos In Wolfenstein

Some things just below together, no matter how odd the pairing might seem at the outset.
Not that I mean to overdose on the Flickr apps, but I’ve been uploading and editing photos all day, digging around in the API, and when you’re that immersed in something, you’re bound to come across some neat apps built by other, similarly mesmerized, people.
So if you’re the type who things the standard slideshow is way too boring, and you’re also old enough to remember the visceral pleasures of Wolfenstein 3D, then your day has finally arrived. A fellow API explorer has made it possible …read more

Flickr Sudoku

Just in case you’re not addicted enough to your computer, I thought I would pass along dangerous combo of two of the most soul-swallowing creatures out there: Flickr + Sudoku.
This handy dandy procrastination site allows you to search for any picture tags you like, meaning that you can play mix and match with any subsection of the Flickr universe you’d like. Like video games. Or cheese. Whatever floats your boat. You can register and save your game, making for quick escapes from snoopy bosses.
Just don’t expect to interact with your friends and family for a very long time…it’s near impossible …read more

Do It Yourself Pandemic

As a biology major in undergrad, you can imagine my glee when I found a fantastic infectious disease game at Kongregate called Pandemic II (implying that there was a Pandemic I at some point which I missed).
Basically you get to play an infectious disease, with the goal of strategically plotting infection, transmission and death across the entire globe. Chose Virus, Bacteria, or Parasite and do your best to ensure that you take special care to get Madagascar, that pesky island nation has a habit of shutting down its shipyards and ruining your chances of global domination.
Is it wrong when you’re …read more

Ready-Set-TYPE!

It’s funny how the simplest thing, when introduced to the concept of competition, can suddenly morph into an obsessed, teeth-clenching quest for glory. Take typing for example…what do you suppose would happen if someone were to create an browser game called Typeracer (hypothetically), and that game pulled quotes out of famous books and movies for a line-up of wannabe type stars to enter as fast as their fingers allow them. You’d end up with an addictive little game that actually improves typing speed and accuracy, while allowing you to also trumpet your superiority over slower folk for all the world …read more
