US Men’s Volleyball Team Takes Gold

In another of the last competitions of the XXIX Olympiad, the United States men’s volleyball team defeated the two-time Olympic and world champion Brazilian team 20-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-23 to win the Gold Medal. The US team was thrust into the news early in the Games after their head coach’s father-in-law, Todd Bachman, was killed by a Beijing national while sightseeing.
Russia took the Bronze Medal, defeating the Italian team in three sets.
Argentina Falls to Lithuania in Men’s Basketball

Today’s action showcased numerous activities and events. However, the men’s basketball competition caught the eyes of many spectators as host nation China and the United States faced off. In an amazing debut, the United States basketball team demonstrated utter dominance not seen since the previous decade, defeating China 101-70. However, defending Olympic champion Argentina wasn’t as fortunate in their outcome, falling short to a fierce Lithuanian team 75-79. Russia, Spain, Croatia, and Germany also claimed victories in today’s preliminary round.
