There is a wide range of interesting characters on this week’s High Stakes Poker. Tom Dwan, Viffer Peat, Doyle Brunson, Phil Laak, Eli Elezra, Alan Meltzer, Mike Baxter and Dario Minieri comprise the table and make for some very interesting poker.
In a hand around minute 22, the grandfather of poker, Doyle Brunson gets the best of Tom Dwan. I probably raise the river in this hand, but Doyle says he wouldn’t have called which may have been true, but Dwan did have a pair of kings with aces showing and a jack kicker.

Tony Veckey is a software engineer.  He’s also a WSOP champion.  Veckey was the sole survivor of the $1,500 No Limit Hold ‘em tournament to win $673,276.  In a field of 2,817 players, Veckey won despite having never played in a WSOP before.  He has quite a percentage going there.  I don’t know if anyone has ever been 1 for 1 at the WSOP.

Tom Dwan has absolutely no fear in him and he’s made a fan out of me.  He’s already a poker superstar, but I think he’s going to be a legend.  He commands a ton of respect at the table and plays as big as I’ve ever seen anyone play.  I found a new Tom Dwan YouTube video of him vs. Bob Safai and it is a great watch if you’re a true poker fan.  Before commenting, I think you deserve to watch this one unfold.  Don’t look at the text below until you see the video.

Ok, I admit it. I’m caught up in Tom Dwan mania. What can I say, the guy is really good and he’s fresh. It’s always good to have a new legit superstar enter the arena and I think Dwan fits that mold. Plus he’s got that metro personality that makes his reactions at the table interesting. Before I tell you more, watch this unbelievable video.

PokerListings recently blogged on a on a high stakes poker hand where Tom Dwan posterized Barry Greenstein and WSOP champ Peter Eastgate. The Internet sensation bluffed both off better hands in a massive family pot.
Dwan had top pair while Eastgate flopped trips and Greenstein came in with pocket aces.  Durrrr once again proved why aggressive players have an advantage by manipulating the strength of his hand in both Barry and Peter’s minds.

After my last blogpost, I searched for more video of Tom Dwan.  I did indeed find a few clips (posted below).  He’s definitely brash although he’ll hide it to some degree.  Some may think he’s a punk, but whether he is or he isn’t, he’s for sure an online poker badass, an Internet superstar if you will.

For quite a while now the record for the largest online pot of all time has stood as held by Fast Freddie Deeb at $465,451.
Last week, though, that same record got busted three times in a row in the same day, all involving recent TV and poker phenom Tom ‘durrr’ Dwan.
The first pot of the three went to Dwan over Peter Jepsen, where Dwan flopped a set of aces against a flush draw and saw his hand hold up, raking in a pot of $474,949.
