US Women Drop Baton Too

Less than an hour after Tyson Gay and the US men’s 4×100m relay team were disqualified for dropping the baton in a qualifying race, the US women, also in the 4×100m relay do exactly the same thing, ending both groups hopes for an Olympic medal.
Just as with the men, it was the third to fourth-person hand-off that caused the problem, this time between Torri Edwards and Lauryn Williams.

Muna Lee Leads Qualifiers in Women’s 100m

The top three finishers in yesterday’s women’s 100m event at the US Olympic Track and Field qualifying meet are going to Beijing. They are Muna Lee, Torri Edwards, and Lauryn Williams.
Lee is a former world champion (2005) and an NCAA runner-up. Williams is also a former world champion. She also won the silver medal in the 100m in Athens.
