The Avalon also tested very high in the crash test ratings, receiving nearly perfect scores except for one star was deducted for it’s ability to roll-over. Rolling over however isn’t usually an issue as it happens in high speed collisions.

If you like you big American sedans but want the engineering of Toyota you may like the Avalon. Personally though nothing truly beats the Cadillac… There I said it.

The 2010 Formula One season is just around the bend of the road ahead and the next year of the fastest sport on wheels is going to have a few new faces and quite a few new teams. On Thursday FIA announced that BMW Sauber has been confirmed as one of the teams that will definitely be on the grid at the start of the 2010 Formula One season. BMW Sauber will actually be taking the spot of the Toyota team which will be leaving the tour. There’s still one formality to take care of for BMW Sauber to actually be able to compete, they still have to put pen to paper of the Concorde Agreement that is the document that governs Formula One racing.

Formula One will see the return of Lotus in 2010

BMW actually announced to the Formula One world that they would be leaving the tour in 2010 and then promptly sold the team to the man that originally sold it to them, Peter Sauber, instead of the investment group Qadbak, who were originally talking to BMW about buying the team. At first it didn’t look like BMW Sauber was going to be able to grab one of the thirteen available tickets to be one of the teams for the 2010 Formula One season, when Lotus looked like they had grabbed the final berth. BMW Sauber got another chance at a ticket to the big show, after Toyota decided to withdraw their team for the 2010 season.

FIA has been busy finalizing the teams for the 2010 Formula One season and is certainly glad to get this part of the process secured and now they can get onto preparing for the season. This means that the thirteen teams that will be on the grid for the opening race of the 2010 season, will be McLaren, Mercedes (Brawn), Red Bull, Ferrari, Force India, Toro Rossi, Renault, Williams, Sauber, Virgin Racing, US F1 Team, Lotus and Campos. This isn’t written in stone just as yet, and there could still be changes to the thirteen teams that will arrive at the first race of the 2010 Formula One season, but things are looking pretty good for these teams to be the ones that will be competing for the 2010 Formula One title.

The minivan is the vehicle of choice for most growing families. Its size, maneuverability and comfort makes long trips enjoyable for everyone. This is all especially true with the new 2010 Toyota Sienna.

2010 Toyota Sienna

The new 2010 Toyota Sienna is one of the best overall minivans this year as it comes with all of the bells and whistles you’d expect from a Toyota. The Sienna is one of the last minivans to still offer All Wheel Drive as an option. This could be a family life saver if you happen to live in the colder climates. Although, the AWD is great for rain and gravel road conditions as well. The system makes sure that all four wheels are gripping the road and providing power at all times.

You can also enjoy having the 3.5L V6 266-hp engine that can provide an impressive 245 lb.ft. of torque. This is great for towing small trailers or campers for those long trips. The Sienna may be a bigger van but it drives like a lighter car. The steering is great for maneuvering in tight parking lots.

The Toyota Sienna is an overall good minivan however its biggest downfall is its price. The Sienna starts at a suggested retail price of $25,000 and could easily top $40,000 with the all inclusive AWD. The Sienna makes up for its price by having one of the best resale values.

Sports is a dangerous activity, it doesn’t matter if you play darts or football, the chance of being injured exists whenever we interact in the physical world and even more so whenever we tempt fate by taking our bodies and minds into realms of physical activity that aren’t natural to us and we have to learn to adapt to existing conditions to succeed. Sitting behind the wheel of a race car is certainly one of these moments in human history when humans attempt to take their bodies and minds into areas that aren’t normal to our senses and experience. A dangerous sport, racing in Formula One can be one of the most hazardous sports on the planet, and the chance of serious, permanent and even fatal injuries exist every time you get behind the wheel of a Formula One vehicle. The forces involved in Formula One make it possible to be injured during regular competitions and at regular speeds and often seemingly innocent events can lead to severe injuries that can mean career ending and even life threatening injuries to drivers, team members and even fans.

Timo Glock will be recuperating his fractured back for awhile

We mention this because the injury bug has claimed another victim on the F1 circuit as Timo Glock will miss this weekend’s Brazilian Grand Prix it has been announced due to injuries he suffered while qualifying for the Japanese Grand Prix. Apparently what was first thought to be an innocent cut on his leg has blossomed into a cracked vertebra that he must have suffered at another time, you would think. How long has he been racing with this injury? This is a good question as it’s possible he didn’t know or if he did, he was willing to race through the pain. I only mention this because the season is almost over and the competitive fire of a man like Timo Glock, and because of the waiting Kobayashi and other racers in the wings. Toyota hasn’t announced whether Glock will be back in time for Abu Dhabi and the closing race of the 2009 Formula One season.

Toyota has announced that their third driver Kobayashi, the reigning GP2 Asia champion who just finished another GP2 season, will step into the seat of their Formula One car. Kobayashi recently had a chance to sit behind the wheel of a Formula One car at Suzuka and he didn’t look out of place and held his own. This is his opportunity to break into the big time and grab some of the fame and fortune he has undoubtedly been dreaming of and is about to get his chance of getting a taste for.

The 4Runner comes with either the spirited 4L V6 that has intelligent timing so that you always get optimal burn on your fuel (saving you at the pump). Or the 4.7L V8 that delivers 236-hp or 266 lbs of torque, perfect for taking off road and climbing near vertical hills.

Toyota is world renown for its durability and when you are venturing into the wild the last thing you want is a break down. Jeeps and Hummers are alright but you just can’t beat the pain a Toyota can endure.

The 4Runner also comes with a slew of safety options and luxury items like the Vehicle Stability Control that will help you steer your way through obstacles by applying the brakes to individual wheels. You can also get Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist that will help you stop when you need to.

The starting price for the 2010 Toyota 4Runner is about $36,800 and can reach near $46,860 for the V8 Limited Edition. If you are interested in getting a Toyota 4Runner for your very own test drive one today at your nearest Toyota dealership.

The 2009 Formula One season rolled out onto the street of Marina Bay Sunday in the latest round of the Formula One for another barn raising affair that saw the podium filled by racers and teams who aren’t in contention of winning the Formula One World Championship. This time McLaren, Renault and Toyota filled the spots that have gone to other teams and racers for most of the 2009 Formula One season.

Jenson Button increases his lead to 15 points

Lewis Hamilton had to turn off and then reboot his KERS system in order to interrupt possible problems with the system. Other than this small problem, his car ran beautifully all day and he was able to make up for his crash at Monza with a win. Heikki Kovalainen didn’t have a good a day but still managed to finish seventh and bring McLaren’s point total for the race to 12 and decrease their distance to Ferrari by three points.

Toyota had a much better result with Tim Glock grabbing the second position on the podium, even though the win is kind of a let down, after a less then stellar season. Glock was actually behind the front runners for most of the race but stayed close enough to the three front cars to grab a well deserved second when Rosberg made an error exiting the pit. The points Toyota grabbed here are important and they could go along way to determining their future in Formula One.

Renault had a great day as Fernando Alonso grabbed a little redemption and satisfaction with a third place finish that isn’t a win, but must still be gratifying after the season they have had. The Renault team has had a frustrating and long year on the track and they needed to have a result that would let the pressure off a bit.

Vettel was a podium contender the whole day, until he lost his concentration and let his adrenalin get to him and was caught speeding in pit lane. It was certainly an entertaining show to watch as parts were flying off Vettel’s car all day as he tried to do his best to win. He later admitted that he had to baby the brakes during the later part of the race and this slowed him a little at several points during the final laps.

The Highlander features all of the finer options offered by Toyota this season, like their safety trim which has rear view cameras SRS airbags and bluetooth connectivity which will keep you connected hands-free.

Under the hood of the Highlander is a powerful 3.5L V6 which will allow you to tow up to 3,500 lbs. If you are environmentally conscience you may opt for the Highlander-Hybrid that gets an impressive 7.7L/100km with a 3.3L V6. Compare that with the 3.5L on the standard Highlander which gets 10.8L/100km.

If this sounds like your car check one out at your local Toyota dealer today. Expect starting prices to begin around $32,600 for the standard and $42,735 for the hybrid.

After being a van driver for the last decade it would be hard for me to turn back to a smaller car. The Toyota Venza helps make that transition easy. The Venza is available in 4 different trims. The basic and AWD have the same 2.7L 185-hp engine and come with the available bluetooth connectivity, DVD navigation system, rear view camera and more. The two higher end trims come with the more powerful 3.5L V6 268-hp. The engine promises to be ultra efficient for the gas conscience consumer. The V6 Venza also comes with AWD that independantly monitors each wheel and directs power accordingly making sure that all four of your tire are evenly planted on the pavement.

The starting price of the 2009 Toyota Venza is around $28,900 but you could be paying upwards of $39,975 for the ultimate package.

The 2009 Formula One season has been a downslide for BMW Sauber after a 2008 season that saw them challenge for the championship before finishing second best to Ferrari and McLaren. Obviously, this German-Swiss team was hoping for a better result in 2009 after a pretty good run at the title last year and were hoping to take another step forward in their battle for the championship. Unfortunately, things haven’t worked out as planned for BMW Sauber this year, with only eight points, and no sign of improvement in their car viewable around the corner. It might be time for BMW Sauber to take a step back for 2009 and maybe start working toward a better 2010.

BMW Sauber's Robert Kubica thinking about his year, so far

Let’s quickly go over BMW Sauber’s year so far and a few of the less than stellar moments of their 2009 campaign.

2009 was going to be BMW Sauber’s year for major improvements in their car and final standing in the race for the world championship. Considering their steady progress since 2006, expectations were of BMW Sauber challenging for the championship and maybe even winning. This was not to be however, as instead of rising to glory, BMW Sauber has lost ground with both their car and their final standings in the races.

Pre-season testing seemed to indicate too many that BMW Sauber’s F1.09 was fast, quick, and reliable, and drivers Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica were talking excitedly about their cars and chances for the 2009 Formula One season. Unfortunately, as the season has progressed, it has become clear they can’t currently compete with the front running Brawns and Toyotas. They have only managed four top ten finishes this season, far behind what they were expecting considering last year they had 74 points after eight races.

BMW Sauber really got left behind when they concentrated on KERS over aerodynamics at the beginning of the year. They are now coming up with their own editions of Brawn/Toyota/Williams double-diffuser, but they’re still way behind this season, and refuse to admit defeat.

In the Turkish Grand Prix they tried out their first editions of the two-tier diffuser, and there were a few signs of improvement, with Kubica grabbing his first points of the 2009 Formula One season. The Silverstone race saw both BMW Sauber drivers finish a lap down, so if the team is going to compete, they need to get their car running faster.
