Nike — along with Beijing Olympic Decathalon Gold Medalist Bryan Clay; and NFL players Adrian Peterson, Larry Fitzgerald and Troy Polamalu; and NBA All-Stars Brandon Roy and Amar’e Stoudemire — introduced the Nike Trainer 1 today. The shoe is actually a blast from the past. It’s inspired by the popular Nike Air Trainer worn by Bo Jackson and John McEnroe 20 years ago.

During this NFL season, there have been a number of horrible calls. Even the use of instant replay hasn’t helped most of the time. No matter who you are rooting for, let’s hope Terry McAulay and his crew aren’t the center of attention after the game is over.

Because anything can be related to something from the Simpsons, immediately upon hearing that the NFL was considering banning long hair, I thought of how that would probably please Grandpa Simpson. “Look at them sideburns! He looks like a girl. Now, Johnny Unitas — there’s a haircut you could set your watch to.” The rule was proposed by the Kansas City Chiefs, whose Larry Johnson once tackled Troy Polamalu by his hair.
