The new Dodge Ram 3500 comes with the industry’s highly coveted 5.7L HEMI V8 that won the “10 Top Engines” from Ward’s AutoWorld. The “hemispherical” firing chamber delivers more power than one that is typically slanted or miss-shapened. The Hemi takes up more engine space which is why engineers don’t usually make engines that way. However, when you’re atalking about mounting an engine on a full-size pickup frame you’re not going to be concerned about space under the hood.

The 5.7L V8 delivers an astonishing 383-hp and 400 pound-feet of torque. If you think this is overkill think again because this truck was made to be the best of the best and it is. It outbeats the Ford in power and can deliver more power when needed. So if you need to tow that yaht to the beach or if you like to haul around your camper this is the best and only workhorse you’ll ever need.

Despite soaring gas prices and a consumer lean towards smaller and more fuel efficient vehicles there will always be a market for pickup trucks. The Colorado is a great truck if you are looking for something that will get you and your tools to any job site. It can also tow it’s fair share, easily capable of hauling a light trailer.

The Colorado shares it’s frame with the GMC Canyon. Both trucks come in a variety of trims to best suit any need. Buying the right truck could be tricky. You first need to assess whether or not you’ll need to have crew seats. Most mid sized trucks only have two seats so this could be a big inconvenience if you need to carry more passengers. The next thing you need to consider is whether or not to go for the extended bed. 6 foot beds are standard but you may need more room if you plan on hauling stuff around.

Perhaps it’s due to the recent economic downturn but the GMC Terradyne Concept may never see the dealership floor. It really was a great truck back when it was shown at the 2000 Detroit Auto Show.

The Terradyne was designed to be the ultimate truck for anyone who works hard. It was supposed to come with the 6.6L V8 300-hp Duramax engine, that was powerful enough to tow well over 6,000 lbs. One of the most remarkable things about the truck was that it was supposed to come equipped with a 5,000W generator. That’s enough to power a house if needed. This could have been a practical feature for those who need to use power tools in remote areas.

Not only was the Terradyne supposed to be tough it was designed to be durable too. The interior was designed in such a way that it could be sprayed down with a simple garden hose. The truck bed could also be extended to accomidate larger loads. One of the most notable features on the Terradyne was that the doors would slide to the side like doors on a minivan.

Maybe this is long overdue but I am pleading with GMC to have the Terradyne produced. This is exactly the kind of truck people want and need. I would pay top dollars for a truck that I knew would last and be reliable. Bring back the Terradyne and prove once again that GMC makes the best trucks.

The Savana can work as hard as a pickup truck as it can tow 9,500 lbs. The Votec 4.6L V8 is a work horse. But it fare’s decent in the fuel economy ratings – just 15 mpg in the city and 20 mpg out on the highway. The powertrain’s efficiency is due in part by the systems two mode transmission. Buy just the push of a button you can switch between normal driving and towing mode. In towing mode you’ll get the advantage of better low end torque, so you won’t have to worry about building up traffic when approaching a steep hill.

because the Savana was built for businesses in mind it’s priced to sell. At just $24,000 to start it’s not hard to see why the GMC Savana is the vehicle of choice for businesses.

If you are the type who needs a lightweight reliable vehicle that will get you and your tools to any work-site than this might just be your meal ticket.

2009 Ford Ranger

Easy on the budget and gas pump, the Ranger appeals to a growing demograph of young working men and women who want to be able to keep more of their paycheck.

The Ranger comes in a variety of trims that will suit most buyers. Personally, I would recommend the 4X4 Off-Road Ranger. It’s more suited to haul heavier loads and can go pretty much anywhere. It comes with the available 4.0L V6 207-hp engine. And that’s plenty enough power for a truck this size. Mileage is great too – at 14.3L/100km in the city and 10.7L/100km on the highway you’ll be able to save even more of your money.

The starting price for the 2009 Ford Ranger is a a decent $15,000 for the base model. That figure can jump significantly to about $25,000 for the fully loaded 4X4 Super Cab. If interested check one out at your nearest Ford dealership today.

With market research showing that 76% of Super Duty buyers were the hunter/fisher enthusiasts (I could have told them that), Ford decided to change it’s design to better suit the market. Their partnership with Cabela proved successful and have helped Ford boost it’s market sales. The Ford Cabela only comes in three colors, green, red and grey and have special edition leather seats and special trims.

My favorite special edition Ford, the Harley-Davidson F-450 comes in the Harley colors of orange and black. The interior leather seats are laced with Harley logo’s.

No matter what type of Ford F-Series Super Duty you’re into, they come with the available 6.4L V8 350-hp twin-turbo diesel engine. Not the most powerful engine for a truck this size, but it’s powerful low-end torque makes it perfect for towing heavy loads on the highway.

The roomy interior of the Toyota Sequoia make this the perfect family comfort ride. It drives like a minivan but retains the bulkiness of a truck. The tough looking grill and hood is matched only by your choice between the 4.6L V8 or 5.7L V8. Both come with an estimated 14mpg in the city and 19mpg on the highway.

You will love the Sequoia if you want something with a bit more room and comfort. If you are unfamiliar with driving a large truck you should opt for the rear-view backup camera. It’ll make parking a breeze.

Find out more about the 2010 Toyota Sequoia at a Toyota dealership near you. Expect to pay anywhere from $38,530 to $55,680.

They don’t get much bigger than this! The new 2009 Dodge Ram 2500 hasn’t changed much from its third generation face lift back in 2003. Except that each year the truck keeps getting better.
The 2500 comes with your choice of a 5.7L 383hp HEMI V8 or 6.7L 350hp Cummins Turbo Diesel, both are very powerful engines but the Diesel comes with the advantage of towing power over speed. But don’t get the Diesel if you plan on working long hours in the [...]
Post from: EveryJoe

One of the biggest and meanest looking trucks on the market today is the new 2009 Dodge Ram 2500.

But don’t get the Diesel if you plan on working long hours in the cold dark winters of Northern Canada. The diesel engines are not as reliable in sub-zero temperatures.

Another interesting feature on the new dodge trucks are their variable valve timing which offers greater efficiency and performance. What the technology does is switch the engine from using the full V8 cylinders to just the V4 cylinders when the power isn’t needed. This will save on the fuel needed to just drive around but deliver the power of the full V8 when you need it.

One of the most innovative feature on the new Dodge Rams are the storage compartments in the side of the storage box. Truck users will appreciate the new and secure place for their tools and highly customizable box set-up. Passengers in the Dodge Ram will also appreciate the ample seating space, a necessity when hauling around an adult crew.

The starting price of the 2009 Dodge Ram 2500 is $30,385. Find out more at your local Dodge dealership.

Politically speaking, it makes me happy to see people – as individuals and communities – taking charge of their own responsibilities. We shouldn’t need a law that says you shouldn’t get into a car and drive when you can’t control it. Realistically, I know plenty of people do just that, and worse, I know people who would never drive drunk who regularly drive half-drunk with sleepiness or distracted while changing CDs or dialing their cell phones.

I also know that some of the big vehicle drivers on the road, gulping up our natural resources and belching millions of tons of emissions in to our air, don’t have a reason to have a truck or an SUV besides how it looks and makes them feel. Realistically, reasonably, many drivers today could downsize without making a significant impact on their lives. They’re also a danger, but how do we address it?

There is a sentiment growing that a special license or permit be established for drivers of these vehicles requiring some proof that a large, gas guzzling, air polluting vehicle is really necessary for you to live your life day-to-day. Similar, I suppose, to a handicap parking permit.

On one hand, I believe that the more power we give the government, the more power they’ll take, and that increasing legislation in itself is a risk. On the other, it’s clear that (at least here in the US) consumers are more concerned with ego and status than how their lifestyles affect our planet.

When push comes to shove, I’m putting my money on the human intellect. We WILL continue to support earth-happier transportation. Our choices WILL continue to grow. We WILL stop putting ourselves first and start seeing “world” as a whole. I wouldn’t support legislation like this at this time, but I am for the government offering incentives like tax credits for buyers of alternative autos, grants to cities to promote mass transit options, etc.

What kinds of laws would you support? More importantly, do YOU really need the car you’re driving? I’ll answer first!
