a 10 million pound cricket match – England vs Stanford Superstars
All of us know that Allen Stanford has lost it. The rest know that he has some brains. The only one left is me, and I think that this would be fun to watch. Texas Billionaire Allen Stanford, after signing a deal with the England and Wales Cricket Board, has announced that England would play an all star team from his Stanford Twenty20 competition and the winner would be richer by 10 million pounds. If you ask what I think of the money, I would say that “well, its huge, too much I reckon. Give me some of it and …read more
IPL Buzz : Some things I noticed
This is Important. The following are the developments which have taken place in the Indian Premier League from 24th April to 2nd May, 2008:
Sachin Tendulkar is still not playing
Shaun Marsh is a great find, but I think its too early to tell
MS Dhoni can lose in T20 (Aussies too would agree)
No Team is unbeaten now
No team is with zero wins
There is a three way tie at the top, with Delhi, Rajasthan and Chennai all on 8 points
All the matches are running in Packed Stadia
IPL can now be declared a success

SRK Gifts, Rajasthan Wins, Ganguly Cheats!
Just watched the Kolkata Knight Riders vs Rajasthan Royals match on telly. A few things prior to the match came to my attention. Since the owner of the Kolkata team has gifted each player a new laptop, the Knight Riders have never won. Some coincidence. I hope Vijay Mallaya (liquor baron, owner of the Bangalore Royal Challengers) doesn’t serve chilled Kingfisher Beer to his team.
During the game, there was a moment when Saurav Ganguly (48* then) lofted a ball straight to Greame Smith at deep mid wicket who took a lowly catch. As the Royals celebrated, Ganguly stood his ground …read more
Texan Billionaire gets spending, wants to run Cricket’s EPL
Sir Allen Stanford, the Texan billionaire who has proposed a US$20 million winner-takes-all contest between England and a West Indies XI, could be prepared to bankroll an English version of the Indian Premier League, but only if the England & Wales Cricket Board can guarantee him a return on his investment.
Sounds good. Would be great if there is stiff competition between the EPL and the IPL and ahem, the ICL about which player goes where. By the way, a little birdie tells me that Mr Stanford has plans to go against the IPL big time. The smile in his face …read more

Thanks be to the forces that be! The first ODI between India and Australia was called off due to rain. I don’t think India would have reached 307 in anyway — given their history in chasing.
But I am writing this post to actually give you a glimpse of the grand welcome Dhoni and Boys received in Mumbai.
It can’t better than this– for Harbhajan.

So, as I had been howling at the forums, it’s gonna be an Indo-Pak grand finale. No one believed me. “India’s chances are slim, boy.” “They can’t get past the Aussies.” “Heck, NZ might just kick Pak out, then?”
Everything, so far, has happened as I had wanted it to.
So, while I “bhangra” like Bhajji, you can go read JC’s match account if you missed the action.

This week two players have made it to the Friday Special feature.
Yuvraj Singh
The six straight sixes he hit has sealed his name in the Indian cricket history. And he can also keep the fastest fifty record to himself for a while.
Brett Lee
Wow, Brett “Brute” Lee is back. I think we need to give him kudos for the superb hat-trick, which also happens to be the first in Twenty20 Cricket, against Bangladesh. Remember, he also has a ODI hat-trick to his name.
Watch it here:
Never underestimate the power of the kiss of death
Twenty20 finals day, Edgbaston
Well, first things first, I, and just about anyone else talking about it, got the predictions completely wrong. Now, I’m not so full of it so as to think it was my kiss of death that did for Lancashire and Sussex, but a combined effort from the entire cricketing media (moreorless), was certainly working in Gloucester and Kent’s favour.
Seconds things second, what a great day of cricket! I had planned to keep updating the site throughout the day, but couldn’t tear myself away from the action. 21,000 people in the Edgbaston crowd were treated to some fantastic …read more
Twenty20 finals today
One of the most exciting days in the cricket calendar has arrived: Twenty20 finals day. 3 games of Twenty20 in a single day (the 2 semi-finals and then the final) always proves to be an entertaining day for the Edgbaston crowd. Things kick off with Lancashire and Gloucestershire, followed by Kent and Sussex. The final gets underway around 1900. The weather couldn’t be better.
Andrew Flintoff looks set to play a part for Lancashire, as part of his wider bid to get back in the England side. Jimmy Anderson will be back for Lancashire, and Matt Prior for Sussex.

Englindies / Westingland
Two Twenty20’s and two one day Internationals down and… scores are level. England and the West Indies are so evenly matched that there’s very little to separate them. And that’s not saying we’ve had four tense and exciting games – quite the opposite, in fact. Rather, we’ve been treated to four very one sided affairs, where one side showed the type of talent of which you would expect of a top side, whilst the other under-performed hideously. In fact, it is this ‘talent’ that ties to the sides so closely together, that is, the talent of inconsistency.
It’s all a bit …read more
