Silva crushes Griffin at UFC 101

BJ Penn defended his lightweight title last night against Kenny Florian at UFC 101, but the biggest story coming out of the night is the complete destruction of Forrest Griffin by middleweight champ Anderson Silva.
Silva was taking his second dip into the light heavyweight division after starching everyone at middleweight, and many thought the crafty former light heavyweight champ Griffin would use his size to give him trouble. But Silva didn’t take one serious shot in the whole fight and finished things at 3:23 of the first round with a quick jab that put Griffin on his back where he …read more

UFC 101 Preview: Silva vs Griffin

One of the most overlooked fights of the year is about to take place this Saturday at UFC 101: UFC 185 pound champ Anderson Silva will be moving up to 205 pounds to take on the original TUF winner, Forrest Griffin. The fight is more than just another toe in the light heavyweight waters for Silva. It’s also a match designed by the UFC to try and force him to actually fight, something he hasn’t really done in his last two fights.
Let’s go back a year to August 2008 for a second. Anderson Silva was one of the most feared …read more

Kenny Florian To Commentate WEC 41

According to en email update I received yesterday morning, Kenny Florian says he’ll be doing the color commentary for WEC 41, Brown Vs. Faber 2. He also said that his formal training camp will begin next week and that you can follow him on Twitter .
After his win over Joe Stephenson, I’m eager to see where this match will go. Florian has carried himself a long way since his TUF days and has proven not to just be another fighter from the show that comes and goes.
“On June 7th I will be doing the color commentary on Versus for WEC …read more

UFC 101: Palhares out, Leites In

Thiago Leites, fresh off of his 5 round loss to Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva, has been asked to replace the injured Rousimar Palhares at UFC 101. According to MMAWeekly.com, Leites will face Alessio Sakara.
Palhares suffered a broken tibia and had to be pulled from the card. The UFC didn’t waste any time looking for a replacement for Palhares and Leites didn’t hesitate to take the fight.
From MMAWeekly: Leites said his first and foremost task was to erase the memories of the defeat.

“What is most important is getting back to fighting as soon as possible,” Leites told Martins Denis. …read more

Florian: “I will Be Fighting BJ Penn”

Kenny Florian Vs. BJ Penn: Kenny Florian has been on a war path since his first loss in the UFC against fellow TUF 1 fighter Diego Sanchez at the TUF finale. Everyone thought Florian was a chump. Sanchez proved he was a good fighter on the show and everyone kind of expected him to win, but Florian’s skill was not showcased well. After the show he continued to fight in the UFC and won his next three fights until losing to Sean Sherk by decision in 2006. Since then Florian has been on a streak of 6 wins. His last …read more
