Poll: Halo Wars A Cash Grab?

Ingrid recently posted a trailer showing some Beasley gameplay and seemed optimistic about the potential for RTS fans, but that got me thinking…who are Microsoft trying to appeal to exactly? Their core Halo fans are rip-roaring FPS players who may not care to painstakingly strategize and conquer, they just want to blow crap up. As both an RTS and FPS fan, I figured I’d give it an honest appraisal, and so I watched the trailer only to fall asleep about half way through
Gah. Does any game look like more of a franchise cash-in than Halo Wars? Serious….a …read more

Golden Hammerburst Used As Lure

Just in case you weren’t thinking of picking up a copy of Gears of War 2, Epic has sweetened the pot with a couple of treats that may convince you otherwise.
The first is really quite fun and is described as a “Flashback Map Pack”. Latest Obsession: Mirror’s Edge

I’m excited about Mirror’s Edge. Oh yes. With the utopian/distopian Orwellian wonders, the hot chick protagonist with facial tattoos and the great in-game footage that I’ve seen thus far, you better believe I’m going to fire up the old PC to give it a go. It’s already won several best in show awards, including at E3 and in Leipzig. Below is the animated backstory to the game, and an in-game trailer that should blow your socks off can be found if you click here.

Reminds me an awful lot of another thing that’s high on my fanlist …read more

Buy The Game Or Lee Redmond Will Skewer You

Okay so you’ll have to forgive a moment of gratuitous posting…I couldn’t NOT put this up. Mostly because I want it on record that I’m wondering at the cost of future psychiatric bills for the little boy in this video promoting Guinness World Records: The Videogame. Not only is he forces to look incredibly happy playing a game on the Wii that he probably doesn’t give a crap about, he’s also forced to do so while dodging the talon-like nails of Lee Redmond, who currently holds the Guinness World Record for the longest fingernails.

On a side …read more

No Online Co-op Shipping With Fable II

I love the offbeat, irreverent humour of Lion Head Studios’ Fable II. It’s a cheeky, somewhat abrasive look at a fantasy world that is right up my alley, so to speak. As you can then imagine, I was more than a little disappointed at the announcement that the game would not be shipping with the online co-op as originally promised. No, like every other game studio in existence when under extreme deadline pressures to shove out less-than-finished products, they’re going to release a patch with the co-op hopefully during launch week meaning that gamers really won’t have to wait all …read more

007: Quantum of Solace

Aside from a eye-roller of a name (I mean really…Quantum of Solace sounds like some horrible emo poetry that I might have written in junior high), both game and movie for the next adventure of James Bond (starring blond Bondshell Daniel Craig) are now well into production stages.
Developer Treyarch have been working with the CoD4 engine, applying tweaks and expansions to squeeze the most realistic Bond experience possible out of the game. Check out some behind-the-scenes views and commentary in the Technology Trailer below. Quantum of Solace is due out November 4th, 2008 on every gaming platform known to man.
