OWC Mercury On-The-Go Pro Portable Drive

I’ve misplaced my USB thumb drive at some point recently. The challenge with having a device so small is that it’s easy to misplace. I usually take it out of my computer bag only when I need it and put it right back. I don’t guess that happened this last time.

If I’m going to be looking at replacing a portable drive, why don’t I just plan on upgrading from my 2GB Cruzer Titanium drive to the OWC Mercury On-The-Go Pro™ model. It’s the first multi-combo interface device that requires no external power and offers a full terabyte of storage space.

iTwin connects 2 PCs via USB

A new startup aims to take the pain out of connecting two computers together by making it as simple as using a USB flash drive. Here’s how it works: Plug one end of the iTwin into the first computer. Snap off the other end and plug it into a second computer. Presto: each computer gets instant access to the other.

The iTwin requires no installation, and no logins or passwords because each time the two halves are separated, a unique crypto-key is created and only the two “Twins” know this key. And should you need to sever the connection, all you …read more

Splitting a USB Wi-Fi Device

My dad is trying to do something with his wi-fi that I’m not sure he can do so I’m going to present the situation to all of you and get your input. My dad is the pastor of a small church in rural Indiana. Their house is across the street from the church.

They have broadband Internet at the house and have it run into a wireless switch which they’re able to use successfully. His office is located across the street at the church. Luckily the office is on the front side of the church that’s closest to the house. They …read more

5 crazy cool USB Flash Drives

Some are more useful than the ordinary variety, some put form over function. But all of these USB Flash Drives will set you apart from the crowd.

To satisfy your data storage needs and your sweet tooth, try this Popsicle Drive, which is available in 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB flavors.

I’ve always thought “carabiner” was a weird word. Isn’t it just an odd word for a little claspy hook thing? Even if it’s a strange word, carabiners come in mighty handy. Brando’s 4GB Carabiner is even more useful, and comes in six different colors.

USB Fingerprint Lock

Brick House Security’s USB Fingerprint Lock with Access Control is a biometric lock that provides records, preferences, and lock information, all stored internally that you can download with a USB flash drive. The download starts automatically when you insert the flash drive into the bottom of the lock.

Employers can download Audit Trails and take the records to their computer to see which employees have been entering and exiting, and when. The device also comes with optional USB Fingerprint Scanner management software, which allows you to scan fingerprints directly from your computer and then set access controls for each individual.

USB 3.0 coming later this year

Nikkei Electronics Asia suggests that the first USB 3.0-enabled PCs and devices could begin appearing as soon as holiday season of this year. Early estimates had USB 3.0 not arriving until sometime in 2010, but Nikkei says that thanks to the faster-than-expected development of “compliant integrated circuits (IC), instruments for equipment developers, and more” throughout the industry.

The USB 3.0 spec, aka “SuperSpeed USB,” claims that it will offer 4.8Gbps transfers, allowing for everything from crazy-fast file dumps to 1080i HD video streams to external monitors. Like the USB 2.0 specification before it, USB 3.0 will be 100% backwards compatible with …read more

Transformers USB Drive

The Transformers movie is coming this year and so are the products. One of the coolest Transformers gadgets are the USB thumb drives at 2GB capacity.

These are very cool drives however, I find it expensive for its 2GB capacity. The thumb drives cost $43 and ships in September. You can add $2 to upgrade to "Collector’s Grade,’ which guarantees that the package is 90 percent mint or better. What?
Anyways, if you are a hardcore transformers fan, grab yourself a thumb drive.
The pre-order is big bad toy store.

The Gdium Netbook from EMTEC has everything you’d except from the smaller form factor with some additional features that may make it even more appealing to other uses.
The Gdium has the smaller form factor, light-weight and a 10″ screen that displays 1024×600 resolution. It’s also completely based on open source software. What makes the Gdium unique though is that it also comes with the G-key to allow users to travel …read more

Internet Roundup About Obama Viruses, Windows 7, Apple Licenses

‘Obama’ viruses are fast spreading. Reports of spam that Bush killed Obama are being circulated.  Emails with “special videos” of Obama’s victory speech are trolling around the Internet too, which when opened aim for any personal information. Unsolicited world news is usually spam, and don’t open these mails (and don’t forward them) even if they say that Bush killed Osama.
Basic users have always been Microsoft’s target audience, unlike some other operating systems that seem to be cut out for power users. In this tradition, Window 7 is apparently going to have troubleshooters in eight categories, to enable users use diagnostic …read more
