Texan Ben Spies started from ninth place on the race grid for Sunday’s Gran Premio Generali de la Comunitat Valenciana on the pavement of Ricardo Tormo Circuit near Valencia, Spain. Racing for Monster Yamaha Tech 3 team in his first MotoGP Premier Class race Ben did an excellent job with a seventh place finish, just ahead of Repsol Honda’s Andrea Dovizioso. Reubens Barrichello stated at the start of the 2009 Formula One season that he would win a race for Brawn GP during the 2009 Formula One season. Sunday on the pavement of Valencia he fulfilled his promise to his team by making it across the finish line just two seconds ahead of Formula One World Champion, Lewis Hamilton.

Formula One will be returning to Valencia for the 2009 European Grand Prix this weekend after successfully hosting the 2008 European Grand Prix. This year track safety officials have made a few changes to conditions on this street circuit after consultations with the racers and the FIA.
