The other night there was a 30 second ad that caught my eye, from famous beer maker Samuel Adams.
Watch the :30 video.

Sure, it’s advertising, but it’s good advertising in my opinion. It’s all about making your employees happy, finding passionate employees who love your mission, your vision, and your values. Happy employees make better beer…and they make your company better.

Sure, it’s advertising, but it’s good advertising in my opinion. It’s all about making your employees happy, finding passionate employees who love your mission, your vision, and your values. Happy employees make better beer…and they make your company better.

Every year Fortune magazine comes out with 100 best companies to work for, based on actual employee survey results. It’s shown that these companies have happier employees…and also are more profitable companies than those who are not on the list.

Coincidence?

Or do you really believe happier employees make better beer, more profitable companies, and are downright better places to be than places where employees are less happy?

And if you believe this premise, what are you doing to make your place somewhere folks can share their passion, their love, their energy, and their beer?

Seth Godin talking about Tribes – Seth Godin is a powerful speaker, and to get his ideas about Tribes distilled down to just 17 minutes is powerful. You can use this one to show your team that everyone has the opportunity to lead in their own unique way.

Ben Zander on Music and Passion – I got to see Zander speak last year, and he amazed me with his energy and enthusiasm. This video is perfect for shifting your team’s thinking and reframing situations. He also reminds us of the “bright eyes” we had when we were children, and a bit about how to get those bright eyes back.

Zig Ziglar on Attitude Makes All the Difference – Zig is one of my favorite teachers of all time, and in this classic, he teaches us about attitude. Use this to help all the folks who are stinkin’ thinkers on your team.

Change is Good, You Go First – A cute video, full of little reminders for you to think about when you forget why you’re a manager, or when your team doesn’t understand what’s going on. Make sure YOU watch it first though. It’s a little cheesy, but it can be VERY helpful. Check out more Simple Truths movies.

Randy Pausch on The Last Lecture – Need something that will inspire your team to do what feeds their passion and perform at a higher level? Watch the late Dr. Pausch’s video, and your team will never be the same. Take time to discuss this one because everyone can take something different from it.

What are your favorite management and team building videos?

I’ve been here almost 18 months, writing management articles and sharing my favorite finds on the web where you can get your management fix. In an effort to focus in on what is REALLY important for managers and managers-in-training, I’m going to begin writing a series on the values Slacker Managers have or can work to acquire to get more done with the people you work with.
I’ll try to keep this series full of short, quick hitting articles that can get you thinking and get put into action quickly. Here are a few of the values I’ll be writing about.

Lifelong Learning
