Hawaii’s McMackin Faces Punishment

Last week at the WAC media day, Hawaii head coach Greg McMackin made some derogatory comments (he used gay-bashing terms) about the Norte Dame football team. Although he was quick to apologize and even asked that his comments not be printed (yeah right), a lot of people are angry. Now, however, the coach faces punishment, which some are calling too harsh.
The WAC hasn’t yet announced what they’ll do about the incident, but the commissioners says that the options could include private reprimand, public reprimand, or game suspension according to WAC rules. The university has already announced McMackin’s punishment, which is …read more
Hawaii’s Greg McMackin Uses Slur

Earlier today, Hawaii’s Greg McMackin fumbled over some words at the Western Athletic Conference media day, asking the media not to report on something he said. The comment in question? When talking about the Notre Dame and Hawaii banquet before the Hawaii Bowl last year, the coach said that the Irish performed a “little f****t dance” for the Warriors before they performed a traditional Hawaiian greeting dance called a shaka.
Ouch.
McMackin later talked to the media about the statement, saying,
