Are your photos on eBay right-click disabled? Most auction template services offer this option. The problem is that the small postage stamp sized photo that shows in search or completed listing results list can still be copied. Actually, this looks quite tacky, since the photo shows up as a 1 x 1 inch square on the violator’s listing, but they continue to do it. The image below shows an example of a photo copied from a search result, then inserted into a listing. Looks pretty bad, right? You can hardly tell what the item is. What does this say about a seller who doesn’t even take the time to provide a full-sized photo of his item for sale?

There are a few things you can do to combat “image stealing” on eBay. There is software you can buy to insert the word COPYRIGHT across your photos, or to create a watermark across your photos using your store name. Click here for info on some software for adding copyright or watermarks to your images.

Offenders can always use the other back-door method that requires a few steps, but the lazy people just want to right click and save. And no, I am not telling you what the other method is – the only reason you want to know is to copy photos!

Check out Marsha Collier’s Cool eBay Tools website that prevents right clicking of your photos. Click here for the script provided by Marsha to disable right click. You just enter in it HTML format section of your listing or in the preferences section of your auction listing template so it is automatically inserted.

Come on, people, if you are too lazy to take and edit your own photo, how in the world do you expect to keep up with shopping, listing, shipping, answering questions, customer service, and everything else that goes along with an eBay business? Take my advice, if taking and uploading photos is too much for you, give up eBay now. You will never make it.
