Apple To Philippines, Here’s Your Online Store!

Imagine my utter shock and disbelief when I got an email from Apple which read “Now Open: Apple Online Store, Philippines“. Whoa?! It’s not April 1 so it must not be a joke. It wasn’t. Within minutes I was able to confirm that indeed our country has it’s very own online Apple store.
It was really a surprise that this is finally true. I figured an online store was still years away. The Philippine market has been growing steadily and Apple must have recognized that it might be time for an online Apple store.
It’s an exciting time. We’ll see if this …read more

The Web In 3D

There’s a great piece of software that allows you to view certain web sites in a 3D wall. Have you seen the iTunes commercial with the wall of album art? It’s similar to that.
CoolIris is a browser plugin for both Mac and Windows that allows you to transform your browser into a 3D viewing wall. It’s perfect for viewing youtube videos, photos at flickr. etc.
It currently works with Google Image Search, YouTube, Facebook, Flickr, MySpace and other sites. Check here for the full list.
The plugin is currently available for Firefox 2 and 3 for both Windows …read more

Leopard Tutorials Over At Lynda.com

I’m not really a big fan or learning via reading an article or a tutorial. I would rather watch a video or play around with something to learn it. It’s not to say that I don’t read articles or tutorials, I do. If I had a choice, I’d go for something multimedia.
It’s for that very reason that I signed up for an account at Lynda.com. I didn’t sign up to learn Mac stuff per se. It was for Adobe apps that I use really. However it was a pleasant surprise that there were Mac titles available.
Now they’ve added new titles …read more

Safari Now Showing In A Windows Near You

Apple just released Safari 3 Public Beta. It now runs on Windows. Apple is saying that it’s twice as fast as IE 7 and 1.6 times faster than Firefox 2. But is it better? We’ll find out soon.
Safari was ported to Windows in a strategy that sees it as a development tool for iPhone apps. Apple has said that 3rd party apps can be written for iPhone via the web application model. Meaning they should be written using the latest web standards and run on the iPhone via Safari. This is the primary driving force why it was ported to …read more

MacRumors Buyers Guide

I’ve been thinking about getting a new MacBook Pro. Two things stopped me, I don’t have enough money yet and I was debating whether or not it was a good time to buy. I know it’s time for the MBP to get a speed or spec bump but I’ve been wanting to upgrade. Thank God I don’t have enough money now. Otherwise my impulse would have gotten the better of me.
For those who don’t watch Apple everyday like me or for those who don’t really keep track of the release dates, news and rumors, MacRumors has graciously put together a …read more

Mac For Beginners

Found this via Web Creme. Mac For Beginners has some interesting articles for people new to the Mac. For people who just got a Mac, the Mac OS X Introduction is a nice short read. It’s very basic but explains it well enough that non-techie people will understand it easily.
Content is not very comprehensive but who knows what the future will bring? Check it out.

MacWindows

MacWindows is a site I discovered today. It’s actually a great resource for those who use Windows on their Macs. They cover a whole range of topics from Parallels, Crossover and VMWare all the way to Microsoft Office for Mac.
For PPC users there are articles that discuss Virtual PC and other solutions for running Windows or Windows apps on your Mac.
I know some people would love to use just the Mac OS X but as this is not a perfect world they still have to get their hands dirty with Windows. MacWindows is a great place to get …read more
