Imagine my utter shock and disbelief when I got an email from Apple which read “Now Open: Apple Online Store, Philippines“. Whoa?! It’s not April 1 so it must not be a joke. It wasn’t. Within minutes I was able to confirm that indeed our country has it’s very own online Apple store.
It was really a surprise that this is finally true. I figured an online store was still years away. The Philippine market has been growing steadily and Apple must have recognized that it might be time for an online Apple store.
It’s an exciting time. We’ll see if this [...]
Post from: EveryJoe

I’m not really a big fan or learning via reading an article or a tutorial. I would rather watch a video or play around with something to learn it. It’s not to say that I don’t read articles or tutorials, I do. If I had a choice, I’d go for something multimedia.
It’s for that very reason that I signed up for an account at Lynda.com. I didn’t sign up to learn Mac stuff per se. It was for Adobe apps that I use really. However it was a pleasant surprise that there were Mac titles available.

Now they’ve added new titles in line with Apple’s release of Leopard. Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard Essential Training, Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard New Features are two new titles specifically geared towards teaching you Leopard. Other titles for iLife 08 and other Mac apps are available.

There are several subscription packages available. I personally chose the monthly package at $25 dollars a month. It gets you unlimited access to the training titles. The drawback is that you don’t get the exercise files. There’s an Annual package that will save you 20% since you pay $250 for a year. You still don’t get the exercise files though. Then there’s the Premium package at $375 per year this includes all the exercise files.

Don’t have decent internet connection? You can buy the CD/DVDs of the titles that you like or if you’re more of a reader then books are also available.

In my opinion Lynda is a good way to learn the basics of Mac and other apps/titles at your own pace. You can always go back to the videos if you forget something. Hey, it works for me :)

So you haven’t had enough of the iPhone? Maybe you’re on of the lucky owners of an iPhone. Well here’s a site that talks all about the iPhone.
July 29, 2007 saw the launching of the iPhoneology. An iPhone enthusiast site. The site was founded by Jimmie Geddes (Gadgets On The Go), Tyler Faux (PalmAddict Podcast) and brothers, Joel and Reggie Suplido (1SRC).
So make sure to visit the site for your iPhone news.

Thought Different is an interesting site that chronicles the Apple Web Site over the years. Using a “cover flow” interface, you can browse around and see the different states of the Apple Web site.
There’s also a blog, forum and a rumors section to boot. Another interesting site about Apple. Go check it out.

Found this via Web Creme. Mac For Beginners has some interesting articles for people new to the Mac. For people who just got a Mac, the Mac OS X Introduction is a nice short read. It’s very basic but explains it well enough that non-techie people will understand it easily.
Content is not very comprehensive but who knows what the future will bring? Check it out.
