Free Wi-Fi from Google This Holiday Season

Will you be on the road traveling this holiday season? If so, you could take advantage of a gift of free wi-fi from Google in 47 of the nation’s airports this Christmas season. Everything is in partnership with the Climate Savers Computing organization and is an effort to raise money for their cause.
Those travelers that have the opportunity to take advantage of a free wi-fi connection will also be able to donate money to the Climate Savers Computing efforts to move toward a clean, sustainable economy through energy-efficient computing.

ePlug turns power outlets into Ethernet

What if connecting to the Internet were as easy as plugging into a power outlet? IT device developer Hercules aims to make it just that simple with its new line of ePlug powerline ethernet extenders.
Just plug the device into an electrical outlet and it provides Cable/DSL access throughout your house by piggy-backing on your existing electrical wiring. The ePlug works by separating out low-frequency signals from high-frequency waves, on which digital data is transmitted. It even prevents the functioning of electrical equipment from being disturbed.

Easy steps can sometimes be the most helpful
eWeek had a great article/annoying slide show about the top 10 security risks that your users pose to your organization. One interesting thing I noted was with all of the increases in security (firewalls, IPS/IDS, NAC, password hardening, etc) in today’s organization, most of these are not even looked at.
