Basically, nothing has changed since then except the fact that I have eight sweet screenshots for you.

Even though I thought the first movie was horrible, I still kind of want to play this game.

And, based on the sales figures for New Moon [which was much better than Twilight] I have a sneaking suspicion that the Scene it? Twilight for the Wii game is going to sell like hot cakes.

Imagine all of the TwiMoms who will snatch up this game.

The game was released on the 24th so check out Amazon or your local game store for your own copy.

Scene It? Twilight for the Wii

If you have a Wii, I’m sure you always follow ALL of the saftey instructions and ensure that your controller is properly tethered to your wrist at all times.

You do remember all of those “Wii injury” videos that came out right after the Wii launched, right?

Well, this video is kind of like those except the only thing that got injured was a flat screen TV…while the cameras were rolling.

How’s that for awesome?

Black Wii Remote and a QVC Video

One reason Nintendo has done so phenomenally well with the Wii is that they have accepted that their target market isn’t comprised of hardcore gamers. They have embraced the casual gamer and Nintendo is cool with that and so cool in fact that they are taking their strategy strait to the bank.

The light-bulb moment – if you will – happened as I watched a commercial for the Wii Fit Plus. I’ve searched YouTube for the video and can’t find it so you’ll have to make do with my description of it.

The commercial takes a woman through her entire day from the time she gets up in the morning to when she gets home after work and you see how seamlessly the Wii is integrated into the woman’s lifestyle. Her life is hectic and Wii Fit Plus is portrayed as a way for her to get away from the craziness and recoup. Near the end of the commercial, you get a shot of the woman’s kid using the Wii so even her kid is getting in on the Wii fun.

Nintendo has had to accept that the Wii’s core market isn’t a bunch of people who would ever identify themselves as “gamers”. The Wii’s “fan base” is comprised of people who want to have some fun at parties or maybe with their kids. The fact that they’re playing a game is secondary to the whole thing.

Many a gamer has expressed their disdain for casual gaming as it seems to cheapen something that we all love so much. For a lot of people, being a gamer really is an identity and the idea of a 40 year old woman playing table tennis or golfing on a game console shakes that image that some gamers have created of themselves.

I don’t think I’ve yet to read an article that give accolades to the Wii for amazing games for “real” gamers but I’ve read a lot of press about how enjoyable the console is and how much fun people have while playing it.

At the end of the day, your average consumer doesn’t have the time or desire to dedicate days to a game. They want to switch on a game, have a good time and then forget about it.

I don’t know if I will ever get a Wii – though it does seem interesting to me. I’ve always been a one console kind of girl. But, I do know that the Wii is here to stay and this is something that “real” gamers are going to have to embrace or at least accept.

And if you can’t accept that, maybe you can enjoy yourself while you watch the infamous “Hula Hoop” girlfriend.

My Wii Epiphany

But, with the announcement of the addition of Johnny Cash and Ring of Fire to Guitar Hero 5, I just might consider grabbing up a guitar and giving the game another go.

New to the game is the Electric Honky Tonk Bar venue which gives you the chance to use any instrument controller to rock out to Ring of Fire and if you’re good enough, you can unlock the ability to sing as Johnny Cash himself.

The game will hit store shelves in September on the PS3, Wii, PS2 and Xbox 360 with plenty of time to get the game, play it yourself and then wrap it up and put it under the Christmas tree.

Not that I condone that kind of thing…

The article I read about his statement says that the Obama household living in the White House is a Wii family. Was he taking sides? Why didn’t he mention the Wii specifically instead of the Xbox?

Now I’m not saying we should read too much into this. Who really knows why he mentioned Xbox initially instead of the game console he’s familiar with on a personal level. The more I think about it though the more I’m wondering what happens. You think he throws down some Wii bowling to relax from a long day in the Oval Office? Why wouldn’t he?

How do you manage your kid’s time spent on gaming consoles, computers, tv, cellphones, etc.? How are your kids doing with their grades and school activities? Do you find a balance? How do you manage that balance?

Obama Supports the Wii-House

The game was released early this month in time to grab some of the hoopla that came with the release of the movie and was released for the Wii, PS3, Xbox 360, PS2, DS, PC, Mac, and mobile devices. [I'm tired just typing all of that.]
