The film stars Will Ferrell anhd Dr. Rick Marshall, a scientist who, along with his research assistant (Anna Friel) and a redneck survivalist () end up going back to a time when dinosaurs roam free.  With no weapons, minimal skills and even less common sense these three have to find a way to make it out of this adventure alive.

Since it stars Will Ferrell, you can pretty much expect a lot of over-the-top, physical comedy which, depending on my mood, I tend to find pretty funny so, even though I didn’t go to see it while it was in theaters, I am looking forward to checking it out this weekend.

“Land of the Lost” on DVD and Blu-ray

I know that Dobkins had a with with Wedding Crashers but I think that was partly good timing, good casting and the fact that many of us enjoy a raunchy comedy.  His most recent work, Fred Claus, certainly didn’t earn him any accolades…

I’m also not completely thrilled with how this plot sounds.  Here’s the description:  “an urbanites moves to a suburban community, joins the neighborhood watch and uncovers a large conspiracy.”

I don’t know about you but that sounds an awful lot like one of my favorite movies of all time, The ‘Burbs, which starred Tom Hanks who delivered a memorable performance that I doubt many could rival.  I hope this isn’t a rip-off as so many movies seem to be these days.

Out of curiosity, I checked out Ferrell’s IMDb profile and discovered he’s got a lot of things in the works.  His new film The Other Guys is in pre-production (2010 release) but he’s got at least four other things on the burner including Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters and Anchorman 2 (could be pretty funny!).

Ferrell Leaves “Neighborhood Watch”

In the movie, which is based on the classic television show, Will Ferrell is a has-been scientist (Dr. Rick Marshall) who gets sucked into some sort of space-time vortex along with his research assistant and a redneck survivalist.

I can only imagine how over-the-top the physical comedy will be in this film but I’m definitely going to try to see it this weekend (watch the Land of the Lost trailer now!).  You can also check out the iPhone game Land of the Lost: Crystal Adventure.

Now in Theaters: “Land of the Lost”

He put the moustache and suit back on for Celebrity Jeopardy where Tom Hanks just suddenly appeared on the show as one of the contestants (he was up against Kathie Lee Gifford and, of course, Sean Connery).  There was a surprise addition to the skit a little later.

Ferrell also resurrected his parodies of George W Bush (who had a “moment” with Dick Cheney) and the ever-popular Harry Caray in addition to new and funny skits.

Will Ferrell will be appearing in Land of the Lost on June 5, 2009.  If you missed his return to SNL, you can watch full episodes on NBC.com.  In the meantime, you can watch this hilarious Celebrity Jeopardy skit.

Will Ferrell Hosts Saturday Night Live

With taglines like “the world’s greatest scientists agree…Dr. Rick Marshall is completely nuts” and catchphrases like “Matt Lauer can suck it!” you know that it’s going to be a typical Will Ferrell movie but I hope it doesn’t end up like Bewitched (another TV series turned film starring Ferrell that just fell flat, in my opinion). 

The plot revolves around Dr. Rick Marshall (Ferrell), his research assistant and a redneck survivalist who end up being sucked into a space-time vortex.  With no weapons, few skills and questionable smarts to survive in an alternate universe full of marauding dinosaurs and fantastic creatures from beyond our world, they rely on an unlikely ally and navigate through a place of spectacular sights and super-scaled comedy

Land of the Lost co-stars Danny McBride, Anna Friel and Jorma Taccone and opens nationwide on June 5, 2009!

New “Land of the Lost” Trailer and Pictures

Lepage’s boo-boo—zipping ahead of the pack straight off pit—sent Carl Edwards flipping (not, um, backflipping) and threw off 15 other drivers who, we’re guessing, used some colorful adjectives to describe Lepage yesterday. The race came to a halt for 25 minutes. Apparently, not to mention inexplicably, Lepage failed to take responsibility for the crash. (Thanks to devoted reader Pat for sending this!)

By the way, are we the only ones who still think of Will Ferrell’s Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby pretty much every time this Nationwide event is mentioned? Yes, we were just looking for an excuse to post this clip (59s). And no, there’s nothing wrong with your volume (though you might want to kick it up a notch):
