Japanese Grand Prix Practice Sessions

The first practice for the 2009 Japanese Formula One Grand Prix being held at Suzuka on Friday was a up and down affair for the Japanese fans who came out to see their hero Kazuki Nakajima. Nakajima had the best time on a wet track in the first practice, until first Heikki Kovalainen went around Suzuka faster in one of the last runs of the day. Certainly Nakajima’s his fans thought he had it wrapped up with a time of 1m 40.648s, until they looked up at the clock at Kovalainen’s 1m 40.356s.

Hungarian Grand Prix Tomorrow

The difference between competitors was a matter of split seconds from top to the bottom again as Friday’s qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix kicked off and the fastest men on four wheels maneuvered their steeds around the Formula One circuit near Budapest. Keikki Kovalainen displayed the driving skill that made him the winner in this race last year in the first session. The aerodynamic properties of his updated McLaren MP4-24 were the difference in this session. Shanghai International Circuit is Next

Brawn officials must be sitting somewhere and cracking a few bottles to celebrate pulling a rabbit out of the proverbial hat as their disputed diffuser has been declared legal by FIA’s International Court of Appeal on Wednesday. This doesn’t mean that we should hand Jenson Button and Brawn the trophy and tell the other teams and drivers to stay home, that they shouldn’t bother coming to Shanghai this weekend. In fact, despite this bit of good news for Brawn, Williams and Toyota, expect Jenson Button to have to battle to win his hat-trick at the Shanghai International Circuit.

We are now officially in March, which means that the Madness is just around the corner. Teams that are hoping to get into the NCAA tournament cannot afford any more slip-ups, while some teams on the bubble are hoping to solidify their case before the tournament committee.
