Congress has decided not to extend the federal renewable energy production tax credit for 2009…

If you are a residence you qualify for a $2,000 tax credit when purchasing a solar energy or small scale wind power system. A commercial entity can qualify for 30% of the total cost of the system is refunded through a tax credit from the federal government…

To qualify for the federal tax credit your system has to be installed and active by December 31st, 2008. To get started the first step is to get a quote from a service provider in your area.

Remember, a solar paneled roof over the garage, or a small wind generator nearby, can be used to provide Clean Energy for a plug-in or electric car. It’s unfortunate this credit is running out just as these technologies are beginning to take hold. You might even consider it something to write your representatives over. ;)

We did our Santa gifts this morning, and now it looks like a Happy Holiday for Me! I’ve been looking for a reason to bring news of this guy to EcoFriendlyDriver.com for awhile now, and thanks to the GOP, I have one! Thanks, ferlaws!

Today we’re talking clean energy.

Shawn Frayne developed an turbine-less wind power generator called the Windbelt™, as an affordable energy alternative in Third World countries, but it can be used anywhere, and it doesn’t leave a messy residue behind. His company, Humdinger Wind Energy, is getting ready to distribute these babies worldwide. They’re inexpensive to make, and can be made with items found most anywhere.

He’s also pretty cute. :) Check out his Google talk here.
