What would you tell your 10-year old daughter to do with her life, if she asked you?
Loaded question, isn’t it? I’ve offered my (now) 11 year old advice on numerous occasions about her life and career. I always, always, always encourage her to go to college and then all kinds of opportunities open up for her.
What would you tell your little girl to do with her life as a business-woman-to-be?

It’s amazing how some people will say ANYTHING, and then act like they don’t know what all the hoopla’s about.
Introducing, the Rev. Jesse Jackson.
The right Reverend has once again successfully managed to make himself look and sound completely idiotic and controversial with his latest comments about good ‘ol Obama. Fox News caught him on a “live mic” (yeah, right) making comments about Obama’s (then) latest political stance and what he’d like to do to Obama’s nether regions…ouch!
Jackson followed up later by apologizing and saying that his words were “taken out of context.” Umm, excuse me? How can that comment be [...]
Post from: EveryJoe

The right Reverend has once again successfully managed to make himself look and sound completely idiotic and controversial with his latest comments about good ‘ol Obama. Fox News caught him on a “live mic” (yeah, right) making comments about Obama’s (then) latest political stance and what he’d like to do to Obama’s nether regions…ouch!

Jackson followed up later by apologizing and saying that his words were “taken out of context.” Umm, excuse me? How can that comment be taken out of context? Perhaps he is just sorrier that he got caught. Can you say Billewinsky?

Man Up…(or Woman up)
Jackson and others like him need to not only take responsibility for their comments but be aware of how their comments can and do affect others. He just doesn’t get it, does he? It’s not all about him anymore. He was the “man” back in the 80s and such but I’m afraid the Rainbow has gone out of his Coalition. There’s another rain man in town and he’s talking right, acting right and playing right…all of the things that Jackson does not do well. Ouch again.

Watch what you say, or at least think about the consequences of what you say. Words mean things and words affect situations both positively and negatively. Remember, once you say it, you can’t take it back.

Mouth diarrhea is just simply NOT attractive.

Mom always said that “when life serves you lemons, just make lemonade.” Or was that Forrest Gump…
Anyway, how impressed was I with the women of the Texas polygamous sect for starting their own clothing line business! I know, I know, kind of weird circumstances, but you have GOT to give those ladies credit for being entrepreneurs. I mean, hey, if this hadn’t happened to them, (you know, the taking away of the children and all from the mind-control camp) then they never, EVER would have been inspired to start this (uhm) fashion clothing line. They took a negative situation [...]
Post from: EveryJoe

Mom always said that “when life serves you lemons, just make lemonade.” Or was that Forrest Gump…

Anyway, how impressed was I with the women of the Texas polygamous sect for starting their own clothing line business! I know, I know, kind of weird circumstances, but you have GOT to give those ladies credit for being entrepreneurs. I mean, hey, if this hadn’t happened to them, (you know, the taking away of the children and all from the mind-control camp) then they never, EVER would have been inspired to start this (uhm) fashion clothing line. They took a negative situation and turned it to work in their favor. You go girls!

You know, I’ve had a couple of glasses of lemondade in my day myself. Yes, I too have been faced with dire circumstances and have questioned where was it that I needed to go next. It can be a challenge to find light in certain circumstances, but nevertheless, making those circumstances work for you can prove to be so very beneficial. Just like the Texas women. What an inspiration!

Lemonade is a great, refreshing drink. Goes well with almost anything. The only thing about it though is if you don’t drink it up within a few days, it starts tasting more and more tart, eventually becoming unbearable. So with that, I’d like to leave a quick business-ey blurb for my fellow Texas entrepreneurial sisters:

Milk this for all you can get while you can. When the excitement wears off and things return back to normal for you (hopefully, not so normal for you), your clothing line may begin to suffer a little. Thing is, women are trying to take it all off, not put more on, so your clothing concept just might not work so well. Think about hiring new designers or fashion consultants. Just realize that all good things must come to an end (thank goodness!)

Now, would you like one lemon or two lemons with your drink?

Enter to win an iPod Shufffle! Deadline, 11:59 p.m. ET on July 13, 2008.

What strategies should the female business executive use to build a good, solid clientele base? I took a look at the three strategies Susan over at brandcurve.com gave. She outlined three strategies that you can use to develop your brand, but I also looked at them and saw three strategies you can use to develop a good clientele. (I hope she doesn’t mind me piggy-backing)!

Define the image you want to portray in the marketplace. Image is everything and image is king. If you want to be perceived a certain way by a certain set of people, watch how you portray yourself. Attracting trash clients? Check your image. Want high-profile clients? Become a high-profiler yourself. Perception is everything.

Communicate your brand message. If you want your message to be perceived a certain way, to be accepted a certain way, pay attention to how you communicate it. Take a look at your marketing materials, your sales literature, your business cards. Does it communicate professionalism, or amateurism? You decide.

Be consistent and persistent. Over 50% of all new businesses fail within the first year of its inception. Whatever your marketing, sales and communication strategies are, be consistent with them. Don’t change too often and don’t try it today but not again for two months. Your customers have got to see persistency in order to build trust.

Whatever your product is, whether it’s a service or a tangible item, decide where you want it to go and make plans to make it happen. Strategize your business just as you would your branding.

Results guaranteed!
