It is not surprise that MMORPG such as the popular World of Warcraft (WoW) can be used as a teaching tool in schools. Lucas Gillespie of EduRealms has started a wiki called WoWinSchool to help teachers in implementing WoW to their teaching.

The primary focus of this project is to develop a curriculum for an after school program or “club” for at-risk students at the middle and/or high school level. Second Life Trailing World of Warcraft

Everyone is talking about the dominance of World of Warcraft (WOW) and millions of people spend most of their time in front of the computer on Blizzard’s WOW.
 
Second Life has silently managed to sneak into second place in the “PC Games” category as the most played title.
Traling them far behind are games like Dar Messiah of Might & Magic, Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword, Bookwork, Half-Life 2, Civiliation IV, Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, Chessmaster Challenge, and StarCraft.

16 Million Quests for WoW

Wow, 16 million quests completed by WoW players every single day as confirmed by Blizzard designer Jeffrey Kaplan.
From July of 2007, players have completed a total of 8,570,222,426.
The original WoW game started with 2,600 quests, Burning Crusade with 5,300 and Wrath of the Lich King at 7,650.

Over at the Grumpy Gamer, Ron Gilbert has put up a call to any WoW fan who is also a fan of the Monkey Island Series. Ron, created SCUMM, the system many LucasArts games were made from and was also the genius behind The Secret of Monkey Island.
Ron has decided to start a Monkey Island based guild that he’s inviting anyone to join. His only stipulation is that your character must have a Monkey Island themed name. Can you imagine how many different spellings of Guybrush Threepwood will be on this server?

It is a sad day around the world today. At least I’m sad. Even my Russian co-worker is sad. She’s at the desk next to mine, yelling into the phone in Russian. I can imagine her telling her Russian compatriots that I am sad. That has got to be what she is saying. That’s sad.
