Baseball Power Rankings – All-Star Break

With the Major League Baseball All-Star break almost coming to an end, let’s take a look at the baseball power rankings prior to the start of the second half of the season. Here’s a look at the best of the best teams in Major League Baseball.
1. Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers have consistently been near the top of the rankings. Now that Manny Ramirez is back, there’s no reason why they can’t run away with the best record in the National League.
2. Boston Red Sox
Earlier in the season, the Red Sox were struggling due to poor starting pitching. With their starters …read more

Be Patriotic or Leave!

A New York Yankee fan is suing the team because he was ejected from a game. Apparently he went to use the bathroom while the song “God Bless America” was playing, and that’s a no-no at Yankee Stadium.

Bradford Campeau-Laurion also says cops at the stadium immediately twisted his arms behind him and marched him toward the exit, where he was told to “leave the country if he didn’t like it.” The guy claims he is “proud to be an American but objects to being required to participate in displays of patriotism.”
The thing I keep coming back to with …read more

Confessions of a She-Fan

Do the Yankees hold a grudge? They might, according to novelist Jane Heller. She wrote the book Confessions of a She-Fan which talks about how her and her hubby watched the ” transformation of the 2007 squad from the doldrums to a wild-card playoff berth.”

In other words, she fell out of love with her team, got mad at it for a while, and then fell back in love with it. Fair weather fan, perhaps? The Yankees seemed to think so. When she wanted to run an for the book in the Yankees Opening Day program, …read more

A-Rod Poses With Himself

You’d think Alex Rodriguez would be lying low right now. After all, he’s recovering from hip surgery, and he’s got that nasty steroid thing about ready to wreck his reputation. But A-Rod wouldn’t be A-Rod if he was lying low! Instead, he’s posing for a groovy photo shoot for Details magazine.
Check out the photos here. Doesn’t the one where he’s face to face with the mirror look like he’s going, “You talking to me?”
Can’t you just see these photos up in the Yankees locker room?

Last Day to Win The Bambino Secret

We’ve had a great response to our Bambino Secret Giveaway. Today is the last day to enter to win, so be sure to leave your comment.
In the spirit of the contest, I have a nice quote from The Bambino himself:
Every strike brings me closer to the next home run.
— Babe Ruth
As if we needed further inspiration, here is video of Babe Ruth’s 60th Home Run (1927). The thing that strikes me about this video is his swing. It’s so easy and smooth. A real contrast to the muscle swings we see today. Enjoy this video …read more

Want to Buy A-Rod’s Spandex?

If you’d like a very special Christmas present for that special someone, look no further than here. Someone is selling the actualy Spandex undies that Alex Rodriguez wore during a game against the Boston Red Sox.
Apparently an attendant in the Red Sox clubhouse sold the garment to Sportsworld, who is now offering it for the low, low price of $420 (at the time I’m writing this at least). It could go higher, of course. Especially if Madonna wants to throw in a few bids to get her man’s panties a huge price.
BTW, the pants are …read more

Win a copy of The Bambino Secret

I’ve got a special treat for sports fans, Babe Ruth fans, and those who also enjoy the occasional historical fiction.

Image: Amazon.
It’s The Bambino Secret by J. Anderson Cross. From the book jacket:
The Great Bambino was a black man.
He carried a shocking secret that threatened to destroy his name, career, and sport. Surrounded by excitement and affluence of the roaring 20s, one of our greatest American heros was engulfed in scandal. He was an embarassment to his profession, yet a bigger-than-life superhero to fans, young and old – nationwide.

It’s Official: A-Rod and Madonna Are a Thang

Image: Newscom.
Apparently Madonna and Alex Rodriguez made their relationship “official” Wednesday night at her concert. He handed her a bottle of water after she sang her second song.
My first thought was: she needed water already after singing only one song?
I guess so. And A-Rod was just the guy to give it to her. The water that is.
Anywho, one source said, “that one thoughtful, loving gesture was the very public admission of their long-rumored love affair, made just a week after her quickie divorce from Guy Ritchie.”
They landed in Miami on Monday …read more

Yankees Owe $11 Million in Back Rent Costs

var iamInit = function() {try{initIamServingHandler(420,279,247191,”http://cdn.pis.picapp.com/IamProd/Resources/Css/css2.css”)}catch(ex){}}()

Here’s a big WHOOPS. The Yankees have apparently forgot to pay their rent.
Hey, it can happen to all of us. Except that the Yanks owe over $11 million in back rent that was not paid between 2003 and 2006. ~source
Now, what I wonder is not how the Yankees FORGOT to pay the rent, but how NO ONE seemed to notice until now? I mean, when your tenant is behind, say…. a million dollars in rent you think you’d notice? (Heck, with these ecomonic times I know when I’m missing five bucks, …read more
