Annoying…Not AnnYong

I don’t know who Ann Yong is, so I’m just going to pretend that this name tag says annoying because that is pretty funny in itself!  There is always this one person at a party, or a networking event, or out with friends that is so obviously annoying. So annoying that they must be doing it on purpose and there is no way they don’t know they are doing it. I probably know this because I have had my fair share of times where I have been called annoying. I’m the little sister. It was my job.

The funny thing is is that my two older sisters actually always trumped me. No matter how annoying I was, they always could get me back so that annoyance didn’t matter because now I was just sad that they didn’t accept me. All I wanted to do was to play with my older sisters when they had friends over, and be cool like them. What did they do? They went into their rooms and shut the door. So here was the start to one of their favorite games they liked to play.

Having the door shut isn’t going to stop me, so I would simply just open the door. Before I could take one step further my sister would yell:

“STOP, You can’t come in!”

“Well, I want to play with you.”

“Ok Franca, you can come in and play with us….but you can’t touch the floor.”

This was her tacktict to make me not come in to her room. She would have me play the ‘don’t touch the floor game’ so that I would stay put outside. Well, that didn’t stop me. I would leave only for about 5 minutes, and collect all the books and pillows around the house I could find. Once I returned, i would place a book or pillow in front of me and take my first step. It didn’t take long to create my own stepping stones to sit exactly where my sister and friends were sitting in the middle of the room.

Exactly…Annoying…My name (was) annoying :)

Thank you all for letting me know what this strange annyong word was…the fact that it actually means hellos is pretty funny, however I enjoyed doing a post about being annoying too! :)

It’s actually a reference to Arrested Development, Lucille (the Mother) adopted a Korean boy to spite her stay-at-home son Buster and called him Annyong assuming it was his name, Annyong means “hello” in Korean. It became a running gag where he would always say hello (annyong) to the family while they thought he was telling them his name.

    Great show.

Not to be picky, but the joke of the shirt is that Annyong is “hello” in Korean. On the show “Arrested Development,” the Bluth family adopted a Korean kid, and because he said “Annyong” they assumed that was his name. And whenever anyone would say it, he’d repeat it, because it’s a greeting. Annyong’s real name? “Hello.”

Haha that is pretty funny! I’ve only seen a couple of episodes for Arrested Development but obviously not this one!

  4. Rude Retro (subscribed) says:

Annyong is what they called the adopted Korean kid in Arrested Development even though it wasn’t his name. It means hello apparently.

    lol
    awesome

  6. Megan says:

AnnYong is the South Korean word for “Hello.” That’s what makes this shirt funny. “Hello. My name is Hello.” I don’t think they spelled it correctly, but there you go.
