Canadians are People Too

Yes, I am Canadian. No, my name is not Joe and even though I’m Canadian I do not play hockey or live in an igloo. I’m sure many of you are aware of these stereotypes because of the famous “I am Canadian” commercial done by the Molson Canadian. Which by the way was an excellent commercial! If you haven’t seen it before, I have attached it down below. But back to being Canadian, if you have seen the Canadian commercial, you can sympathize a little bit of all Canadian stereotypes which is why I love this t-shirt. Canadians are people too!

I used to play field hockey at high school, and we would go play in tournaments in Buffalo which was just across the border. Big deal for us and always a fun road trip for the team, but when we arrived at the tournament and were one of the very few Canadian teams. It was like we had just arrived from Mars. They would all ask us if we got here by our dog sleds, and if we slept in igloos. Are you kidding me? Are you guys really that aloof? It was clearly a ‘we’re better than you stab’ before our games started but we weren’t offended. We just laughed and couldn’t believe that people were that oblivious. Canada is a pretty place guys, and we have a lot more too us than igloos and dog sleds. To be honest, I have never seen an Igloo before and i have never rode on a dog sled. I have only seen Polar Bears at the Zoo, in the summer time can wear shorts and a t-shirt! Can you imagine that? Stop thinking that us Canadians are from Mars – we are very friendly and normal people
