The Daily Tee

Facebook Stalker

Is the word facebook even in the dictionary yet? Because if not it should definitly go into the 2010 addition. The word ‘facebook’ has even become a verb with us when talking to friend or when meeting someone know. “Hey – I’ll ‘facebook’ you”. Which really means, you should be expecting a message on your facebook account from whoever said that. Unless they were just saying that to get out of the conversation you were having. So if someone says that to you and you don’t get a message, then they know they don’t actually like you.

Facebook has actually turned into something kind of creepy. You can actually find out everything about someone if you wanted to. The thing I still don’t understand is those people that actually allow you to know everything about them. They have no privacy status, and anyone, even if they are not your ‘friend’, can check out your profile. Why do people feel the need to update and share with you what they are doing every 5 minutes!

Their are two types of facebook users. You have the people eat up facebook and use it to it’s max by adding all the applications, write on everyone’s wall, update their status with useless information and has been through every album that they can get a hold of. Then there are the people who just go on it when they receive a message, and maybe once in a while check out who’s birthday it is and send a happy birthday. That’s me. Which is why I can’t understand the whole ‘craze’ about it. I don’t care if I am one of your top 10 friends because I really don’t buy it. I also don’t really care if I can paint graffiti on someones wall. The scary part about it is when i over hear people say “oh i recognize her from facebook…Oh ya…she’s so and so’s friend, and used to date so and so but they just broke up.” You know what those people are called? Facebook stalkers.

Seriously though. Get over it. Ya sure it’s fun to count how many friends you have but really are they all your friends? And also, people only put pictures up for one reason and one reason only – to show off. Ok, maybe not the entire only reason because I put an album up once but that was only so everyone could download the pictures rather than be having to send all the pictures out. But those of you who add an album every day? What really could you possibly be doing everyday that everyone else needs to see. Get a life.
