Holiday Matinee

Recently I was introduced to Holiday Matinee, a creative company who makes sure they don’t miss a snitch. They started in 1999 to target talented friends – musicians, artists, entrepreneurs and other people doing cool stuff. They must have done something right, because 10 years later they’ve become bigger and better than ever, making sure they are up with the times and engaged in media, good design and social responsibility.

The people who are involved in this company are people who believe in what they do, and are behind every step they take whatever direction that might be. They have the right attitude to succeed, and they have the material to prove it. They live by the motto, “Love your work. Work your love.” I’m a big fan of quotes and this is definitely one I will think twice about. Loving what you do is very important, and I think it’s so sad to think that there are people out there that just work for the sake of working, and don’t know the difference between ‘making money’, and ‘a job’.

This shirt is called ‘Words’ and I love it. I sometimes go through those phases when you repeat a word numerous times till you think to yourself, what does this word even mean? Where did it come from and why is that associated with it’s particular meaning. Why do we not call piano’s waffles, and had someone named the piano a waffle from the start it would be completely normal to say “I’m going to go practice the waffle”. That’s why I enjoy this shirt because it’s just a whole bunch of words. One word may not necessarily mean anything, but when put together create meaning. Well the words on this shirt are juts so random that even though they are a bunch of words in the same place, it still makes no sense. That’s the way I sometimes feel about words, meaning and life. That’s why I tend to make up my own words more often than not
