Mushrooms Version of Alphabet Soup

I love my mushroom soup. Mushrooms are something that you either love or hate. No such thing as “We’ll they are ok”. You either love them so much that you make sure everything and anything you make includes mushrooms, or you think they are the most disgusting thing on the planet. Well typically they are aren’t they? They do classify themselves as a fungus.

Wikipedia says that: “A mushroom is the fleshy, spore-bearing fruiting body of a fungus, typically produced above ground on soil or on its food source.”

We think mushrooms being a fungus have to be gross because most of us associate fungus as something nasty that grows on peoples feet. Which yes, then fungus is disgusting. I happen to hate feet and think they are gross and hate it when someone else’s foot touches me but that’s an entirely different story. Right now we are talking about mushrooms. So I am sure mushrooms aren’t made out of this disgusting fungus that comes of people’s feet, fungus “are heterotrophic organisms possessing a chitinous cell wall, with most fungal species growing as multicellular filaments called hyphae forming a mycelium; certain fungal species also grow as single cells”. What ever that means…

So more importantly, there is something going on in this mushroom soup. There is a smurf swimming around along with the other fungus. Were smurfs even supposed to be mushrooms? I never really clued into that. They sure didn’t look like mushrooms, and what was the connotation there…making little cartoon animals into mushrooms? Or were they not mushrooms but they only lived in mushrooms. Who knows – never really a fan of the smurfs. All I know is that that show hasn’t been one for a while now so get out of there – you are ruining my mushroom soup!
