Candy always means celebration. It’s such a treat. First of all, I don’t think there is anyone who doesn’t like candy. Sure, there may be some people who don’t have a sweet tooth and that’s ok. Weird, but ok. But even if you don’t have a sweet tooth, you can’t possibly not like every single kind of candy. There are tons of kinds of candy out there. Gummies, sugar ones, jellybeans, licorice, bon bons, what are bon bons anyways. I thought bon bons were just candy in french, but I think bon bons are actually stereotyped as the ‘hard’ candies. The one you have to suck.

My favorite candies are the gummies without the sugar. Like gummy worms, gummy bears, ju jubes, etc. If I was a solider battling in war and a green ju jub dropped right in front of me I’d be in heaven. All my problems would definitely fly.

You want corn on the cob right now – don’t you!

T-shirt courtesy of Zazzle.ca

So I love corn so much that whenever I go up to a cottage, corn on the cobb comes with. It’s like we are buddies. A few weekends ago i was up at a cottage with a friend where we nicknamed ourselves ‘the corn girls’ before we even got up there. You see, there was a mistake in the ‘who’s bringing what’ list. At this cottage, everyone was told to bring their own food for what they wanted to eat. So the corn was on MY list, but because my friend was so adamant in me just telling her what to bring, the list kind of got screwed up. Instead of me bringing up 5 corns for the 2 of us, she brought up 2 corns to add to the 5. I’m not sure how good you are at math, but that’s 7 corns for 2 people. We weren’t complaining, we love our corn, but we were only there for a night.

We were laughing on the way up because we hardly knew anyone at this cottage. As we were uncomfortable enough as it was, we were going to be the crazy girls that show up and eat corn. So we nicknamed ourselves the ‘corn girls’. We had no problem with this nickname, in fact, the nickname kind of grew on us.

So we finally arrived, introduce ourselves, and crack open a beer. The day went on and finally it was dinner time where we could begin our corn fest. I start to prepare and gather our food, and decide to use my friends 2 corns first. I pick the corn off the counter and put them on the bbq while we wait, wait, and wait. Everyone else is hustling and bustling around the kitchen asking “where are my potatoes’, and “oh is this my milk?” Needless to say, everyone knew what they had brought themselves, and only ate what they had brought. By the time it was ready to eat, we were so full on beer and chips, that these 2 corns were plenty, and we would save the rest for later. We also did have two delicsiously small steaks to add to the delisciousness.

Long story short, the next day it was time to go, and we gathered all of our things. Don’t forget our sleeping bag, check. Did you get your glasses? Check. Oh, the cooler and the food bag! Check. We pack the car and say our goodbye’s, and we officially became the two girls that came to the cottage, partied, woke up and left. We did not intend to do that at all but I don’t think we left a very good impression on the friends of a friend. We didn’t mean to and that was not our intention at all, but I had to get home early for work, and plus, no one really looked too disappointed to see us go. They were more like – BYE!!!!!!

So anyways, we start our journey home, and about half way through, we feel like something to nibble on. I remember the bag of gummy bears that is still in our food back, so my friend reaches back to pull out the bag of gummies, only to find her two corn on the cobs in the bag. “Ummm Franca…who’s corn did you use?” “The ones you brought up!” I look over, and there she is holding up her two corns which obviously had not been eaten by us last night. We check the other bag, and there are my 5 corns. Here are the corn girls, who literally came up with too much corn, and yet still ended up eating someone elses corn.

Literally – We were the corn girls.

My last post was all about ones imagination and how having an imagination is so important no matter how old you are. This post is along similar lines. Building a fort!!!! Building a fort as a kid was one of the most fun activities imaginable. I always used to get my aunt to build a fort for me because she did it in these ugly brown couches we had but they were so flimsy I could never do it myself. I thought she has some special and magical power because she could always make the fort just right, and it never fell down.

What was the point of a fort though? Like, what would you be doing in there!? Once I was in my fort that my aunt made, I couldn’t move around that much because I didn’t want it to topple down., so I would just sit in there. Once in a while call out and ask if someone could bring me a snack and water but that’s as exciting as it would get.

Ok so that was one type of fort, the other kinds were the forts you would make with your friends during sleepovers. You would put the sheets up above you as if you were in a tent and it was your private room of some sort. What was it about having private little spaces? Being magical and feeling powerful. A way to hide from the world. But what could you possibly have to hide from in the world at that age? I understand the guy below wearing this tee, he obviously would rather be in his fort than what he’s doing!

T-shirt courtesy of Crazy Dog

The one kind of fort that I never got as a kid that I wanted to badly was a tree fort. Now those are cool. I would even still want one now. I mean, it was your own little house. You didn’t even have to pay rent at that age. You could just climb up, have your secret meetings, make ‘clubs’ and have only selected people come up to your tree house. I’m definitely going to get a tree house for my kids. One because I know they would love it and it would be fun for them, and two, I want to use it.

Having an imagination is very important because it allows you to live dreams, have thoughts, and do things you may not necessarily do otherwise, and allows you to escape reality. Even people who have pretty sweet lives still need to ‘escape’ from time to time.

T-shirt courtesy of BustedTees

I have to admit, I’m still a pretty big kid at heart. I don’t want to grow up…I”m a Toys R Us kid. That doesn’t mean I sit at home and play with my barbies, but you know what? I bet I could do that and still have fun. It’s what will keep me young and not build unwanted stress in your life. The longer simple things make you happy, the longer you will live.

I had a huge imagination when I was a kid, and so did both my sisters. I am the youngest of three so you can imagine I did whatever they told me to do. So in their imaginary worlds, I was there imaginary servant, and brought them imaginary food. Because I had such a great imagination, I LOVED being the servant and eating invisible food.

My sister and I even had our own imaginary world when we were little. We could only enter our world by jumping through the sprinkler. Once we arrived in our world, we could not let go of each others hands – we always had to be holding hands otherwise the evil spell would break the spell. What spell? Who knows but it would have been terrible if it was broken! The only way to return to the real world was jumping back through the sprinkler. (I’m talking one of those ghetto sprinklers that look like a fan and move down and up from left to right so it was like jumping through a curtain of water). Sometimes we would be called in for dinner, but we hadn’t left our world yet so we had to eat dinner still holding hands. My mom would get so mad and tell us to let go but we told her we couldn’t! Because it would break the spell!

I bet there are times where parents think their children are bizzare. I’m going to have to remember my childhood stories to help explain my kids when I’m older and remember that the imagination is a gift, and so what if they have an imaginary friend, as long as they are happy.

It seems like it was only yesterday when the excitement started about the new ‘timbit’ craze. What are these small balls of dough you say? Well, they are the middle of the doughnut! The middle of the doughnut had to go somewhere! Why waste the middle when it tastes so delicious. Why not turn them into something useful?

T-shirt courtesy of Snorgtees

So the brilliant idea was born. Lets make the inside of the doughnut a mini doughnut itself and call it a timbit! The interesting thing about this though, is that timbits over the years have gradually gotten bigger and bigger to the point where it couldn’t possibly be the middle of the doughnut! Three timbits would be the same as eating a whole doughnut to itself. Did you know that?

Why do doughnuts have holes in them in the first place? Who thought they would make a perfectly delicious round baked good, and take the middle part away? Was it for design? did they run out of dough? Is that just how they turned out?

I’m missing and still waiting for them to come up with a Boston cream timbit. Boston creme doughnuts are my fav…and if only they just made a bit sized one I would be in heaven. They already had the jelly stuffed ones, so what are you waiting for! It would be like a round bite sized version of an eclair!

What’s next? A bagit? The middle of a bagel and we can start making mini sandwiches?

Sometimes, who really cares!? Geeze, enough already. Don’t get me wrong, on my good days, I can have someone talk my ear off and think that their problem is the worst problem in the world and I will agree with them for their sake and because they are my friend. ” Yes you’re right, oh my gosh that’s terrible…I can’t believe he did that to you, I would be so angry if I were you”, blah blah blah. However there are those days where you just aren’t in the mood to kid yourself. “Are you serious? You are angry over that? That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Give yourself a break”. Instead of actually saying that outloud to the person (since you are probably close to the person you are talking to) this shirt should be a simple solution. Wearing this shirt would solve many problems except that I probably wouldn’t use the word ‘freakin’ I would be using some other word that happens to start with ‘F’.

Seriously though. Sometimes just shut up. Everyone has problems and bad stuff happens to everyone, but sometimes just get a grip of yourself. Have a day to be sad and cope with what you have to deal with, and then move on. You aren’t getting anywhere sitting there and sulking, and you aren’t helping the ones surrounding you either. I recently wrote a post about instead of being sad, be awesome. Some person said something outloud one day that was smart enough to go on a t-shirt and that saying was “When I’m sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead”. So true. Think about all that time you are wasting dwelling on those horrible things you are going through.

That being said, yes i am a thoughtful and caring person and if anyone ever has a problem or an issue and they need someone to talk to – my ears are welcoming

We have just had a long weekend here in Canada so everyone had Monday off. What a difference it makes when you have that extra day off from the weekend eh? Although, you always seem to think that you will notice a major difference and not being at the office for 3 whole days in a row is going to give you that extra break, but it never really does. Everyone also feels as though since you have those 3 days, you should do something with them and go away for it when really, it’s only an extra day from a weekend. You can’t really do that much more than you normally would a normal weekend.

T-shirt courtesy of VintageVantage.com

Well, this weekend for me especially stood out. Nice weather, relaxation, and nowhere to be at a specific time. You know those vacations where you need a vacation just from your vacation because you are so busy trying to fit everything in at once? Why do we do that to ourselves? I know it’s hard because everyone only has so many days that they can take off, but that’s why we have to make the most of those days that we can enjoy doing nothing, and really take it in.

The reason I chose this shirt for today, is because after the weekend I had, I do feel like writing home about it. The only problem is, is that I spent this entire weekend with my family so I can’t really write home about it because they were there with me the whole time. Writing home should be about sharing stories of what you have been up to and experiences so that they feel like they were there with you. So what does one do when the people you want to write home to were there with you?

Write it anyways. Sometimes it’s nice to actually sit down and write to reflect. With technologies these days, no one hardly ever picks up a piece of paper and a pen anymore to actually write home, write a letter, or just write in a journal before bed. Why would we write in a journal when we have blogs?

I can just blog about my trip and send over the URL to my folks!

It takes all sorts to make the world go round. Everyone is different and thank god. Although, because we all are different, we tend to not necessarily always understand one anothers’ ways and behaviors. You see or hear something and you think to yourself “I would never do that, how do they not know that that isn’t ok!” Well, that’s just the thing. They don’t know it’s not ok because to them, it is ok!

T-shirt courtesy of Despair Wear

Obviously there are certain boundaries and no, killing someone or stealing a car is not ok and everyone should know that. I’m talking about the little habits. How do you not know the garbage is full, and when the garbage is full you take it out? Or that when it you are inside, there is no sun so you don’t need to be wearing your sunglasses? Or how about saying please and thank you?

So clearly I have my own pet peeves to deal with, and some things that bother me may not bother the next person, but that’s what’s so strange about behaviors. A behavior is something that makes your personality. However you react to certain things makes you you. If you don’t get along with someone because they annoy the hell out of you and you can’t take the behavior, then you just simply aren’t friends with them. It’s as easy as that!

That’s why I love this shirt. It’s so true. If you just accept the way people are and try not to let their habits and behaviors bother you, you simply won’t be effected. That, or just stop being their friend. Otherwise, like this shirt says, you will have to learn to forgive them. And once you forgive once, and then again, and then again, you are going to just be right back at where you started and be pissed off that you have to forgive again for doing something in the first place that you were annoyed by.

My Father is British so we have quite a lot of family over in the UK so I may be a little bit more familiar when someone asks to use the ‘Lou’, or tells you that you must be ‘bloody’ joking. Their sayings are quite cute, and because I’m a sucker for the English accent, i LOVE hearing all their interesting expressions and different words that we haven’t a clue what they are saying. So I have a cousin staying with me that arrived last night with a few of her girlfriends and they have just been traveling around the world. They were talking about their experiences and what places they liked and didn’t like and I heard a term I had never heard before but thought it was quite appropriate. Apparently, they did not have as great a time in Fiji as they thought, but that they had to keep in mind that they had been traveling during the ‘credit crunch’. Now picture that in a cute little British accent. The Credit Crunch? We all boring and sad individuals have been calling it the ‘recession’. How lame is that? It’s a sad period of our life and we have to call it something that makes it even more sad. Where as here are the British calling it a credit crunch! Sounds like some kind of cereal!

To my dismay, what do I happen to come across today when i turn on my computer and start looking for t-shirts? The most perfect shirt ever for today….

See, sounds just like a cereal! I wonder how much this box of cereal is!!

I actually have heard a roomer about shoes being tied to the cable wires. Apparently, any place where there are shoes tied up in the air, it means it’s a drug deal place. Is that true do you think? If so, beware of tied shoes then because sh*t goes down in that area!

It’s strange because all the shoes are always rugged and old and wripped and teared, but they always seem to be sneakers!
