Banned Pepsi Soccer Commercial

For some reason this new Pepsi Soccer Commercial couldn’t air. Not exactly sure why this commercial was banned? I mean is it racist in any way? Can anyone explain why this couldn’t be on television?

I think its because of the cultural reference of how Asian Cultures use bowing as a form of greeting and respect and then to have it turned on them to score a goal. Made them look foolish.I even cringed.

    Saving face is very important.

I would have thought it was something to do with graphic nature of foul causing free kick…studs high right into shinbone…not good message

I remember seeing that commercial on tv back in 2002. See the date in the commercial I believe that is the year the commercial ran duing the 2002 WC

hey maybe it is trying 2 show that chinese people r stupid

  6. johng says:

I DID leave an opinion…it was that the foul portrayed in the ad — studs against shinbone — was so graphic, it sent the wrong message to mids watching it.

  7. johng says:

    To kids not mids

  8. johng says:

PS why ask for comments if you’re not going to use ‘em? Justa thought

  9. Jyle says:

If anything the commercial demonstrates that Chinese people are gracious. How could that be sending the wrong message?
