Brazil v Australia About More Serious Things Than World Cup Points

Well it is for two of the blokes at b5media anyway as they’ve managed to talk each other into a little wager on the outcome of the game.
It’s a real battle of the b5media behemoths too as Duncan Riley, one of b5’s founders and a hardcore Aussie, is defending his honour against our Sports Channel Editor, the USA’s Aaron Brazell, as the heat really gets turned up in Group F.
Australia’s impressive 3-1 win against Japan may have helped fuel Duncan’s bravado but Aaron hasn’t got the money in his pocket just yet as Brazil (Brazell, ah, how I see the connection!) weren’t all that impressive themselves as they stumbled to a 1-0 opening win against Croatia. Ronaldo’s return from headaches to play again tonight could be a plus point for either side as he has the ability to really turn it on and win the game singlehandedly almost or else play such a lazy peripheral role that Brazil might as well be playing with ten men.
Whatever happens on the field it’s sure to cause some discussion internally at b5media when it comes to one of these guys handing over their hard-earned!

Just for the sake fo clarity, the bet is on today\’s Brazil-Australia game because Duncan somehow believes that Australia will beat Brazil. Silly boy. Easy bet, easy win. But that\’s only the surface. Outside of the bet, I really would like Australia to win. Why?
With an Italian win and a U.S. win this coming Thursday, the U.S. would become the second team to advance in Group E setting up a matchup against the first team to advance in Group F. Which would really suck for the United States if that 1F team is Brazil. So, go Australia.
what happens if it’s a draw? Who wins the bet then?
No contingency for that, but I’d just say he keeps his money.
I’d be surprised if Australia beat South Korea, let alone Brazil
I’m rooting for Australia to take second spot, but they will need to play a lot, lot better than they have in qualifying or in the first match to come close to matching Brazil.
On the other hand, Australia beat Brazil in the 2001 Confederations Cup – the last time these two teams met.
Well it’s a done deal. Duncan owes me money. I’d love to get a picture of him paying me.
well done Aaron.
if brasil was beaten by Equador, why not Astralia
It could have happened, Dunc.
