I’d be surprised if Australia beat South Korea, let alone Brazil

I’m rooting for Australia to take second spot, but they will need to play a lot, lot better than they have in qualifying or in the first match to come close to matching Brazil.

On the other hand, Australia beat Brazil in the 2001 Confederations Cup – the last time these two teams met.

Just for the sake fo clarity, the bet is on today\’s Brazil-Australia game because Duncan somehow believes that Australia will beat Brazil. Silly boy. Easy bet, easy win. But that\’s only the surface. Outside of the bet, I really would like Australia to win. Why?

With an Italian win and a U.S. win this coming Thursday, the U.S. would become the second team to advance in Group E setting up a matchup against the first team to advance in Group F. Which would really suck for the United States if that 1F team is Brazil. So, go Australia.
