David Beckham got his wish – he’s playing for England’s National team. The only reason why Beckham went to play for AC Milan was because he wanted to prove that he was still good enough to play for his home country in the World Cup.

Beckham met up with other team England players at the London Colney, Hertfordshire stadium for a quick practice session March 24, 2009. England will be playing their first World Cup qualifying round against Slovakia on Saturday, March 28.

The 2010 World Cup, South Africa will take place between June 11 and July 11, 2010. David Beckham has played 108 international games for team England in the past and has hoped to beat Peter Shilton’s long standing record of 125 games. At only 33 years old Beckham has many good years ahead of him, and as he proved himself to the English National Committee he is still up to par despite taking a ‘vacation’ in Los Angeles.
