DAVID BECKHAM David Beckham was in Canada today to play a tribute game against the Vancouver Whitecaps FC at the Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Alberta May 13, 2008. Despite mustering an assist for the LA Galaxy, Beckham couldn’t secure a victory. Losing 2-1.

Despite the loss, Beckham and other Galaxy teammates enjoyed the celebration of more than 35,000 fans cheering them on.

Beckham’s desire to build up a soccer hype in North America has proven difficult, especially in hockey loving Canada – having a tribute game in Edmonton was therefore said to be strategic in building a Western Canadian fan-base.
