The BMO Fields in Toronto, Canada have announced today that their controversial FieldTurf artificial grass has acquired a two-star FIFA certification. The grass-like turf was installed on the Toronto FC home pitch back in April, 2008. Since then it has been the centre of criticisms for Canadian soccer fans who say that nothing can replace the quality of real grass. FieldTurf is said to be a new maintenance free artificial grass that maintain a quality playing experience.

  1. Well, what i would like to say is that FIFA should have gone through more investigation before issuing the certificate. It is true that FIFA still can revise the decision in future on the basis of the consistency of the turf. I have no idea whether it will be able to provide the same quality of football that a grass field can. So, first people should check the performance of artificial turf before start to criticize it.
