germany world cupIt was another exciting game for the Brazil and Germany national women’s soccer teams. Germany managed to put a halt to Marta’s scoring spree that could have tied the game. Instead Germany pushed past to win their second strait World Cup win, the first team to do so in the history of soccer.

“Birgit Prinz scored and Nadine Angerer stopped a penalty kick by Brazil’s Marta as Germany became the first team to repeat as Women’s World Cup champions with a 2-0 victory. Brazil star Marta, who has seven goals in the tournament to lead all scorers, had a chance to tie the game in the second half, but her penalty was stopped by Germany keeper Nadine Angerer diving to her right.”TSN.ca

The USA and Norway fight for third left the Norse women out of the loop and the less than exuberant Americans settling for the bronze.

So there you have it the China 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup has come to an end. Germany takes the cup, with Brazil settling for second and the USA in third. Frankly I though Brazil was the better team but they lost fair and square so what can you say. The magic just wasn’t there for them today.

Hope the men’s team catches on the inspiration.

I have always cheered for them during the world championships.
