kilbane fritzAfter Germany’s 0-0 tie with the Republic of Ireland, Germany becomes the first team to qualify for a spot in the 2008 European Championship. With Germany’s women’s team winnig the World Cup twice consecutively, they have allot to live up to.

Germany qualified with three matches to spare. Playing without injured stars Miroslav Klose and Michael Ballack, the Germans rarely threatened the Irish goal but only needed one point to advance. ”They are a very tough team to beat on their home soil, but we soaked up everything they threw at us,” Germany goalkeeper Jens Lehmann said. – TSN
