Iraq Reverses Decision on Ban

Basam Ridha al Husseini, advisor to the Prime Minister on sports and other issues, watches a soccer match between two Iraqi teams, after freezing the Iraqi National Olympic Committee. The Iraq government has decided to reverse it’s decision on dissolving the Iraq Football Association. After being warned by FIFA and subsequently banned from participating in the Olympic games and World Cup, Iraq has decided not to control their country’s football team.

No one is happier than the people of Iraq and Team Australia who are scheduled in a match for their first World Cup qualifying game.

    One of the few positive things to happen to the beleaguered people of Iraq in recent years is their football team.

    Hearing of this current plight was truly heartbreaking. Nowhere else in the world is it so obvious how football can unite people, and, simply, make people happy.

    i wish them all the luck in the world in the forthcoming qualifiers.
