Iraq Soccer Team Offers Hope

The Iraqi National soccer team has been getting allot of recognition and praise after seeing them emerge as the only representatives in the Summer Olympic Games. Since then they have been able to restructure the team and now have superstar coach Bora Milutinovic leading them.

So far the team has been able to shine as Bora leads them through the 2009 FIFA Confederation Cup. They managed to fend off a defeat from South Africa on Sunday June 14th. They will be fighting for the lead in division A in a match against Spain today (who are the current leaders), and New Zealand that is in place for June 20th. If Iraq manages to win both of these games they will be the undisputed victors in their division. Who knows maybe they will even win the cup. All I know is that since 2004 when the war began 100,000 Iraqis have died. The Iraqi Team know that they have more to gain than any other country right now. A victory could be a little light as their country goes through this difficult situation.
