Iraq’s National Football Team Named

The National football team of Iraq was officially named today with some big players who have agreed to return and represent their native country. As you can imagine, returning to train in a war torn country is not for the faint of heart especially if you believe you are targeted.
Iraq’s coach Egil Olsen has picked 15 players from the team that won the AFC Asian Cup in 2007. After breif training they will play their first game against China People’s Republic in their first qualifying game for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa. The game is set to take place next month.
Iraq National Football Team:
Goalkeepers: Noor Sabri, Mohammed Qassid, Didar Hamed.
Defenders: Ali Hussein Rahima, Jassem Mohammed Hajji, Jassim Gholam, Bassim Abbas, Haider Abdulamir, Salam Shaker, Nabil Abbas.
Midfielders: Hawar Mulla Mohammed, Mahdi Karim, Samer Saeed, Nashat Akram, Qusai Munir, Haitham Kadhem, Khaldoun Ibrahim, Ahmed Abed Ali, Saleh Sadir.
Forwards: Ahmed Salah, Karrar Jassim, Mustafa Karim, Ala’a Abdulzahra, Younes Mahmoud, Emad Mohammed.
