Liverpool, a club with no honour, and now with little respect as they are held by Everton

The Al Maktoum family recently accused Liverpool Football Club of acting dishonourably after they had shook hands on a deal with David Moores only to find that the deal was “un-agreed” at the next Board meeting of the club, following an improved offer from the Gillett consortium. Personally I doubt that money was the prime motivator behind the decision of David Moores to pull out of an agreement that he had shaken hands on, rather I believe that David Moores, Liverpool fan to the core, saw the Gillett offer as an opportunity to keep hold of his precious Liverpool, if only for a few more weeks.
Despite the Liverpool PR machine rolling out, saying that they had felt bullied by DIC, that the offer wasn’t that which had been agreed, and that the club had to do what it felt best for its shareholders, the fact is that David Moores had shaken hands and given a verbal agreement to DIC, and only pulled out when they had an increased offer on the table, so you can understand the Al Maktoum family’s disappointment with the club at their “lack of honour and respect”.
Benitez has followed in the club’s tradition by showing a lack of honour and respect for his local rivals. Instead of praising his opponent’s tenacity and resilience he decided to cast aspersions on their heritage, to look for a scapegoat for yet another failed Premiership campaign.
It’s true that Everton haven’t won the League title for 20 years, but then again it has been almost as long for Liverpool. It is also ironic that Liverpool, whose fans accuse Chelsea of buying the league and therefore of having no honour, now find that their best chance of winning (or should that be buying?) the Premiership now rests with the £150m transfer budget promised by Gillett.
As for the game itself, there was excitement at both ends with Reina saving well from Johnson and Osman, as well as Gerrard almost putting the ball in his own net, whilst at the other end Tim Howard placed himself well to gather shots from Crouch and Alonso, but most of the second half was all about restricting Liverpool to long range speculative efforts, although if he’d had more composure Crouch might have made something of the only real chance that Liverpool had instead of fluffing it.
All in all it was an exciting game, as most derbies are, more nail-biting than flowing, with each team desperate not to make the one mistake that could turn the match. But over the two games this season, Everton have shown the greater resolve and the better finishing, with Liverpool finding themselves running out of ideas.
The only small thing about the game was Rafa’s comment after it, which diminished the reputation of his once great club. His words were those of a bitter little man against a local rival who had taken 4 points of him and effectively ended any hopes of a Premiership title for yet another year….

Matt, pleased to hear the Gerrad is prepared to make a go of it with his missus, but I fear its doomed to failure. Not sure if he’ll stay or if he’ll go, but the adios gerrard was just echoing scouse billy’s comment.
Nice to see that you are supporting your local club matt – the red devils….
)
Juggs
How stupid are you really?
Are you serious – You ‘borke our hearts’??? trust me – tescerton is no princess diana – so try and use your words a little better
&
hundreds of millions??? – again try and use what words you have in your head with a little more aptitude – because as funny as you are to listen too – you do seem to need a few lessons at learning to construct a true sensible sentence !!!
please
And juggs maybe just maybe we are not good enough to win the prem this year but i think youll find were are consistently in the top four – not lurching towards the bottom.
Liverpool under Gerard hullahoop & Rafael Benitez have both won lots of trophies – something i cant remember Tescerton doing. – if im wrong could you write down in my pre-list ( supplied below) what you have won.
(1)
(2)
(3)
(4)
(5)
* if you need more space just add to those numbers*
Ok matt, how much do you think you’ve spent? not net spending but total spend? How much do you think your squad is worth on paper?
Nice to see you’ve reverted to type – typical plastic fan whose history is just counted in number of trophies won, so prior to the 70’s Liverpool had no history?
Sorry Matt, but glory hunters will always support those clubs with recent success, true fans will support their club through thick and thin, and yes we’ve had a lot of thin over the last 20 years, but while you can claim some trophies, even the most plastic of fans will admit that you want the premiership more than any other.
I know you’re doing your best, Jugs, but your ego really gets the better of you. So the Goodison banana throwers were evil reds trying to undermine the integrity of the Lidl Peeps Club – ha fuckin’ ha, that takes the biscuit and begs the question what are you taking, Jugs, prozac?.
Oh yeah, then there was the Segers episode!!!
No what I mean, Jugs?
Scouse – you clearly didn’t go to Barnes debut game at Anfield. It wasn’t against Everton, so why would evertonians be there? It was home fans throwing bananas on the pitch.
I know the same happened at Goodison, and I’m not proud of that, but unlike you I’m not trying to change history nor be hypocritical about it.
But while Everton fans have been bad, if find it ironic beyond belief to have our fans called for their behaviour by Liverpool fans – have you forgotten Hysel or even the paving stone incident in Bulgaria – hypocrisy beyond belief…
By the way Scouse – here’s an extract from Liverpools official site, you can find the full article here – although it glosses over the racism that existed in LFC fans at that time it does say;
“Disgraceful racial graffiti that had been predictably daubed upon many walls across the city in the aftermath of his arrival slowly disappeared”
So yes, it was disgraceful for the Everton fans to wind him up about his colour, but at least we hold our hands up to our disgraceful past – and don’t try to change history – unlike you, I was in Liverpool when he made his debut, I was talking to the bloke who had a fruit and veg stall near the ground, he was amazed that he had sold out of bananas early in the afternoon – I told him it was because it was Barnes’s debut game, and lots of the Liverpool fans were against him.
That incident tends to be forgotten about, especially as it was replicated by the everton fans later, and there is that famous photo of him back heeling the banana.
So stop being a hypocrite all your life Scouse – your not as great or as innocent as you’d like to beleive you are
“So yes, it was disgraceful for the Everton fans to wind him up about his colour”
Jugs, I can hardly believe you wrote the above!
Scouse – see your ignoring your own failings agina and pointing out everyone elses – like I said no class and no honour
Ah, Heysel. Do you really think either the club or 99.99999% (based on a minimum of 28m registered fans) of Liverpool fans should really take the blame for that?
When you do reply, Jugs, I’ll be employing my patented blueshite bullshit detector, so do proceed with care, my franchise-challenged friend.
Wow. You do miss the point:
calling “racism” “winding him up about his colour”.
Are you in the BNP too?
Scouse Billy – you are the definition of a gobshyte, I don’t need to prove who was responsible for Heysel, a five year ban for Liverpool is proof enough.
And if you really don’t believe that Liverpool FC has racists I suggest you read some pieces from real Liverpool fans who go to the game.
Try this one http://arsenal-mania.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=28135
Its on an Arsenal forum but its about Racism amonsgt Liverpool fans. Try to learn something mate, I can understand your lack of intelligence, but there’s no excuse for your ignorance
And if you really don’t believe that Liverpool FC has racists I suggest you read some pieces from real Liverpool fans who go to the game
Jugs, there are racists in all walks of life. I haven’t denied Liverpool fans include some but none of us should condone it nor half excuse it with lines like “winding him up about his colour”.
Heysel. I suggest you read the wikipedia article. It’s detailed and objective:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heysel_Stadium_disaster
Here are a couple of significant paragraphs:
Built in 1930, the Heysel Stadium was outdated and, in retrospect, not a suitable venue for a match such as the European Cup Final. Large parts of the stadium were crumbling. Even at the time many felt the ground was patently unsafe for football, with Liverpool Chief Executive Peter Robinson urging UEFA to use another venue.
Some Liverpool players and supporters feel that it was wrong to entirely apportion the blame for the disaster on Liverpool supporters, and that other factors, such as the ticketing arrangements and inadequate policing, contributed to the events. The fact that there was never an official inquiry also raised eyebrows.
And yet for you, Jugs, all you need is UEFA’s punishment of Liverpool without any possibility of their own failing’s being examined.
Whatever next, Jugs? And you think I lack intelligence! If you were in Berlin in 1935 would you agree, that all the ills of the world were down to the Jews? Hopefully not but with your uncritical thought processes I would fear the worst. Try educating yourself then you’ll understand why this cynically, ignorant and libelous attitude that Liverpool fans are racists and murderers does a disservice to the dead, the bereaved, to yourself, and football in general.
y are some people sayin that gerrard is trying 2 sort out everything with miss curran!! i haven’t heard anything about them not getting on and arn’t they getting married in the summer???? just curious!!
Don´t worry Rachel. Everything´s fine between those two ;o)
All that sorting things out stuff, is just Evertonians talking jibberish!
Sigh – I have only just found this site but I was hoping for more than this poorly written article, it appears that Sack The Juggler is using the Alan Green tactic of “shock jock” journalism to start of a flame of a topic….
As a Liverpool fan I am able to recognise the history of Everton and other clubs for that matter, I have watched great derby matches between our teams over the years and also some shockers, however I do feel you do yourself and the club you love no favours with this type of article.
