The Major League Soccer Association revealed it’s players payroll April 4, 2008. So it didn’t come to anyone’s surprise to learn that David Beckham was included as one of only five players throughout the entire league to receive a $1M plus salary.
The Top Five are…
- David Beckham ($6.5 million guaranteed) – LA Galaxy
- Cuauhtémoc Blanco ($2.67 million) – Chicago
- Marcelo Gallardo ($1.87 million) – DC United
- Claudio Reyna ($1.26 million) – New York
- Landon Donovan ($900,000) – Las Angeles
The MLS maintains a minimum salary for it’s senior players of $33,000. This is a good deal compared to the players on developmental contracts who only earn between $12,900 and $17,700.
