Randy Lerner, took time out from his busy NFL duties this weekend to watch his new soccer club play in the English National Soccer League. His team, Asston Villa, dominated the game, and gained a score in each half to win by two points to zip.
It wasn’t all one way traffic and Aston Villan’s defensive team worked hard to shut out rivals Bobby Charlton in the vital play off match up. Chorlton offensive player, Hassle-bank almost gained a score from a turnover on the Ashton Villa’s 20 yard line. But an excellent play by Anton Villa’s goal minder Sore-jensen turned the ball behind for a free kick to Charliton.
It was Ashen Villa though who came out on top, and they could have had more points if Angle had converted a head goal in the Charlestown in-zone.
Randy, a life long Aston Vanilla fan, said his coach was “awesome” as his team went to 3 and 3 after six games.

Nice report.. made me laugh! Also, Randy has not been a life long villa fan.. and what was bobby charlton doing on the pitch!
Glad you liked it – when I heard his comments about O’Neill being “awesome” it took me back to the American’s we met at the last world cup. They were really genuine, and very enthusiastic, but very ignorant about life outside of the US of A, for example Tunisia, is apparently pronounce “Tune-asia”, and Austraila is part of England because it has the “English” flag in the corner of its flag.
To be honest, they took all our ribbing in good humour but it took me ages to convince them that it was a game of two halves, instead of two quarters!
HA HA….you gotta laugh.
