    how does this intelligence work

  2. Amanda says:

    HORRIBLE

  3. CJ says:

How does it alert the referees about te ball going out of bounds? Will it say its out when olny part of the ball crosses the line?

    • matt says:

Of course not. I mean, I don’t know anything about this ball, but why would you even think that that wouldn’t occur to them?

      • Evan says:

Personaly i think this is a cool idea but the reff should decide the call because, if the reff decides the ball is out then its out. If the refferee decides its not than it isnt technology should not take over you should rely on the reffs judgement not the ball.

  4. Jen says:

    how does it work

  5. brad says:

sounds cool but i think the reffs do a good job as it is……….how does it work

  6. Barker says:

your mom knows how it works

  7. Brendon says:

This is so Stupid we pay the refs to do a good job and now they will work less for the same amount of money this is a joke adidas needs some help making soccer balls….

Stupid comes in all forms even the rich.

  8. cesar says:

how does it even work adidas is just waisting even more money than for the regular ones but i have to admit it is a cool looking soccer ball

  9. Hill says:

Well yeah reffs already do a good job but now people won’t be able to say the lost because of this or that. I think it will be cool.

  10. aimee says:

ask the referee.. thier the ones that make the decsion…

  11. alyssa says:

pretty cool but seems like it could be faulty…
    what if it rains??

  12. juan says:

    How does if work

  13. katie says:

how does it tell you when it goes out of bounds? does it make a sound or something!?

  14. Jyle says:

I think that it’s made to signal the referees if it goes out of bounds. Seems like it’ll cause more problems than it’s worth.

The NHL (National Hockey League) tried using sensors embedded into the pucks so that it would glow for viewers watching it on TV (like golf it’s hard to see the puck when it’s being slapped around), but the pucks just kept breaking apart when they got hit hard enough. Soccer balls take a beating to so I imagine they’ll have the same problems.

  15. kyle30 says:

why do people keep trying to change sports by going to machine judgement instead of a actual person like how it was meant to be. this is a waste of money and time

  16. megaloopay!932 says:

    cool…does it really work tough???

  17. Al says:

It would be better if it detected bad calls…

  18. Swoccer1722 says:

the ball seems cool but how much is it going to cost fifa and is it waterproof

  19. ZK Soccerpro says:

I think this is a brilliant idea on adidas’ behalf.
This technology could then extend to other sports.

Referee’s are yelled at for many reasons but at a professional level moreso by coaches and out of all the complaints they receive “on field” directed from coaches out of bound calls equate to over 47% of complaints.

The technology is rumoured to work from pressure censers installed on the inside lining of the ball.
They are set to diameter opposed bearings that allows the ball to read level.
The linings of the field can either contain magnetic markers or laser markings which allow the ball to mark a crossing point.

If you look at the lining of the inside of the ball those “beams” are parallel on either side.
The suction points are magnets/readers. Once one of those pass the sideline/baseline the ball will create a reading once its opposing magnet/reader passes the same destination.

The reading would most likely be sent by radio wave/bluetooth technology (as duh!…there will be no cords) to possibly something like a wristband on the referees arm that vibrates or beeps letting them know the ball left the field of play.

ANY improvement in the assistance of aids for referees I am fully behind because it drops complaints from coaches and reduces the amount of stress referees have to deal with while doing their job.

A no excuses game is a good game.

I think this is a great idea cause i was just in a tourney and the ref was hoorable he only called out of bounds if our team kicked it out mabey it will make soccer a whole lot easiear

  21. carabear says:

I think this is a great idea cause i was just in a tourney and the ref was hoorable he only called out of bounds if our team kicked it out mabey it will make soccer a whole lot easiear and alot more fun cause there would be no blameing the ref

  22. Leoanrdo17 says:

Cool! This worked on the African Cup and it isn’t a waste of time or money and for ones that say that referees will not work are dumb, this will only make football more fair… And is easy to see how it work, if you can’t see maybe you don’t have even “2 fingers of brain”…

  23. SoccerFreak says:

Will it break when it gets kicked or when it hits the post or Crossbar

  24. jasld says:

    this rocks

  25. Gifted32 says:

this rocks your world ****** ***, i did your mom, sister, aunt, cousin, grandma, & daughter ****

Wow, that was highly unnecessary! More comments like that and you will be banned from this site.

  26. soccerstar494 says:

i dont think its that5 hard to see when the ball goes out but if it can tell who the ball went out on that would be pretty sweet then! but other wise its a kinda stupid idea.

    • shannon says:

for someone named soccer star you’re pretty stupid when it comes to soccer because in select and pro refs make mistakes so this is a genuis idea for high level championship matches because how would you feel if the player went out of bounds and scored on you and the refs missed it?

  27. alex says:

first of all part of the game is how a ref calls the game. are were going to let machines call the rest of the game as well? whats next offsides? If we head in that direction we might as well be American Football and stop the clock every 5 seconds and review the last play. I dont think this is a good idea. Second thing has any one looked into how much it is going to change the flight of the ball. Im sure they have a little bit but adding a little thing thats going to be moving around on the inside is bound to affect it some how. i say we just stick with the normal refs and a normal ball

  28. Zach says:

It does not make the refs life easier they still have to watch for fouls offsides and a lot of other stuff that only tells wen it goes out of bounds

  29. JAne says:

    i like balls bitch

  30. rob says:

this all probably work by placing 4 sensors instead of the flags on the corners and it senses when the ball passes them so this is not stupid u guys just dont understand or appreciate technology

  31. CB says:

This is stupid although the inside looks coo but the refs should do the job right? All of that money for a stupid ball comeon this is stupid. And Zach The Refs should work so I dont like this ball at all is sucks like crap it allready smells horrible so come on it stinks . see ya got to go back to learning in class

  32. Brittany says:

    how does it work?

  33. Jeff says:

I referee youth soccer. You will never see this at the youth level because it will be too expensive and difficult to maintain the field level sensors. So, it will probably only be used in professional level games. Even though the ball will tell you when it’s out, the referees will still have to decide who last touched it. I have found this is where more controversy happens is on who last touched it, not if it was out or not.

One place it will be real handy if it works is on the goal line.

  34. Christy says:

I think this is stupid just another way for us to waste our money for other people to make more.
THIS IS JUST PLAIN POINTLESS!!!!! reffs may make bad calls sometimes but hey thats life get over it. sometimes i wanna slap the reff but doesnt mean we have to invent some new crap.

  35. Jorge says:

    cool idea i like it

  36. jerry says:

what the hell are you stupid or something. a smart soccer ball! then what is the point of a referee

  37. shannon (dude) says:

All of you morons who keep saying how stupid this is and how it maked refs not required aren’t very intelligent in the game of soccer. because there is so much more that the ball can’t tell and it helps refs be able to focus more on things that are easy to miss like off sides and shoving etc. so this one invention overall helps create a more fair game

  38. CLARA!!!! says:

to tell you the truth…it is pointless! even though im doing a sports assignment on how great it is, but the more i learn about it the more hopless it gets!!!! its can break, have o pay extra to make it water proof, and it dosnt always call right! seriouly what happend to the Human Eye and Replays!!! its more accurat and we arent reyling so much on technology!! soon it wont be soccer! with all this technology!! swimming has already been taken over by technology (fancy swin suits, that repal water)its not swimming its Who Has The Money to by The Most Exspesive swim suit!!! and dont let soccer be taken tooo!!!
thats all i have to say…..take note of it

  39. Makra says:

I understand the need for new tech. However I feel the more tech that goes into the rules, the less it becomes raw. I think baseball is a great example of of bad calls being a part of the game. I like the human error of the game, and it gets my blood pumping when something is called wrong. I like that about all sports. I don’t like American football because everyone can contest anything, and it seems that they have to go to the replay for every close call. I a=have a great love for soccer, but I’m not going to kill a ref for missing at out of bounds call. Besides we also have linesmen with a perfect vantage point. What happens when they see it as out, but the ball doesnt go off?

On the other side…if we can completely replace the ref, what will happen to all the acting on the field?

  40. Ryan says:

This is unnecessary and a complete waste of money. Adidas’ new soccer balls cost 140 alone, without this new material. Perhaps it could be good so refs can’t cheat and throw off a game. There will be sensors placed in the out of bounds and they will go off when the material inside of the ball crosses the out of bounds, thats how it works

  41. SoccerPlayerRef says:

I think this new ball technology or whatever is just ridiculous. Lets get things straight. Referees make mistakes. Every ref has made mistakes. These mistakes may even lead to game changing events, but you know what. It is part of the game. It may be an unfortunate part but bad calls are still part of the game and always have been. If we were to make something like this and use it, whose to say we dont have machines call handeling(hand balls) or off-sides. This changes, and may lead to even more changes, in the worlds greatest sport. I think we should leave the game how it is. And this is coming from a soccer player, as well as a referee.

  42. Joe says:

this is a pretty bad idea, the only time this would be used is in the pros. By then refs make good money and dont need help reffing cause there professionals. Besides part of the game is reffing mistakes. I play and the refs make bad calls all the time. You know what the least amount of bad calls are made? the sideline because theres nothing hard about calling them. Handballs can be negotiable but the out of bounds is straightforward. Besides the sensors could be broken and call outs on small portions being off the field. Just let the reffing go to the refs
