South Africa Scratches New Goal-Line Tech Plans

800px-Flag_of_South_Africa_svg The organizers of the South African FIFA World Cup organization has decided to scratch their original plane of placing goal-line monitoring devices into their new stadiums. Organizers have said that they feel that using technology to play the game is a gamble they are not willing to risk.

Personally I think that it is a bad idea. Just having the World Cup games held in South Africa will be difficult enough, don’t take the added risks!

  1. It is a complete kop out this decision! The organisation asked to devise the technology by FIFA have produced a system whereby a micro-chip in the ball produces a noise in the referee’s ear-piece as soon as a ball goes over the line! It would take a split second to make a decision. With all the poor decisions in major tournaments over the years, this could be the end to it all but the powers that be have bottled it yet again!
