Construction of the new soccer facilities being built in Johannesburg, South Africa, may come to a halt if wage disputes are not resolved. The problem is that union officials who represent the broader construction and labour workers of Johannesburg sent notice to the stadium workers to support them in a city-wide strike if their demands are not met in the next week.
South Africa is hosting the 2010 World Cup games in soccer. Any hindrance of the construction needed to help prepare the country to host the games, will become very costly. Some officials of the FIFA world soccer association are wondering if they made a mistake choosing South Africa, and rumours are floating around that they are already making contingency plans if they cannot fulfill their world cup commitments.

Once again this highlights the fact that FIFA have made a mistake entrusting a novice footballing country with the biggest tournament on earth. True it is right that it gets shared around the continents but FIFA should have given a country like England the competition. They are ready and the venues are in place. South Africa and alike should have been given an extra four to eight years to get their house in order to be ready for it and be up and running.
